"DO I LOOK okay?" Mina asked Diana nervously. The teen stood in front of the front door, arms spread outwards to show her aunt.
Diana looked over from her place on the floor, where she had been sorting through charts and profiles from her various patients. The black haired aunt's eyes scanned over Mina, her head cocked to the side until she eventually nodded.
Mina breathed out a sigh of relief, letting her arms drop. She pulled her phone out of her hoodie's pocket, checking the time and then turning it back off.
She repeated this a couple more times, staring up at the ceiling before Diana groaned loudly, grabbing Mina's attention.
"Do you think you could stop that?" Diana asked, clear annoyance in her tone. Mina nodded and immediately pocketed her phone, once again anxious.
Diana observed her niece with careful eyes, noticing the way Mina was squeezing her hands together and the shifting of her body.
"What's up?" The older Miyazaki called over and Mina looked up.
"Nothing." Mina lied, holding her head high. She attempted to act aloof, not wanting to tell her aunt that she was, in fact, going out on her very first date ever.
She knew people could go at different paces and they were just different but nowadays, she felt like she was almost pressured to be dating someone. Or the very least, wanting to date someone. And Mina, for the longest time, had wanted to do neither of those things.
And now that she wanted to do both, now that she was sixteen and still hadn't had her first kiss, now she was definitely feeling the pressure. And embarrassment.
So, to save face, Mina decided she would speak nothing of her date and just let it slip under her aunt's radar.
But of course, Diana was not an idiot.
"Really?" Diana asked skeptically. "No plans for tonight?"
Mina pretended to think for a second, then shook her head. Diana raised her eyebrows and nodded slightly.
"Okay then." The aunt shrugged, letting it go.
Diana knew full well Mina was up to something but she also knew Mina hated having her privacy invaded. If she didn't want to say something, she didn't have to.
It annoyed Mina.
Sure, she was kind of embarrassed that this was the first time she acted on a crush in all her years on this earth but still. It was the kind of thing she wanted to shout from the rooftops and at the same time, did not.
Again, it annoyed Mina.
"Okay, fine. I have date." Mina found herself saying, knowing the effect it would have. She was not disappointed when Diana immediately gaped at her niece.
