"So is this going to be a thing now? Coming here, doing this," Lance asked. His tone carried a hint of hopefulness. He had made Keith promise to forget what happened in the parking lot after the whole convenience store debacle during the car ride, so he was back to his casual self.
It unsettled the Omega greatly.
"Uh yeah... yeah we should." Keith really wanted to bring up what had happened, he wanted to know why Lance had a trigger reaction to the e-cigarette. But he swore not to talk about it so he didn't.
But if Lance was more scared of that e-cigarette than the dark, Keith didn't question it. He felt like it wasn't his place. Lance wasn't his Alpha, even though he was seriously considering it. The Korean didn't even feel that weird thinking about it, about bonding with Lance.
Okay now that he put it that way it sounded a little weird to him.
He could feel his face turn into a sour grimace as he cringed into himself.
"Damn okay, of you don't want to then you don't have to lie to me about it Cariño, just say you don't want to instead of making a face," Lance said, clearly misunderstanding what Keith was making the face about.
"What? Oh no! That wasn't, I just... I got lost in my head for a second is all," he said truthfully, Well, at least half-truthfully.
"What's on your mind Cariño?" Lance asked.
"I don't want to talk about it!" Keith squeaked, face burning at the thought of telling Lance what he had just been thinking about.
Lance made a face at him but dropped it, returning his attention to the road. A stretch of silence enveloped them, but it wasn't awkward. It was very comfortable and easy, which Keith was a huge fan of considering the Alpha had a tendency to be able to talk for days, but Lance could tell that Keith was holding something back.
"What do you want to ask me?" the Alpha sighed, readying himself for the questions that he assumed Keith was going to ask. Why did you freak out over something so small? What happened in your past? Blah blah blah. The Alpha mentally prepared himself for a long explanation.
"Will you tell me one day?"
Lance... was not expecting that.
Whenever he hinted at the fact or someone guessed that Lance had a trigger when it comes to drugs they usually bombard him with questions. And trying to be more comfortable with his past and his growth, Lance has always been open about it to people that he trusted. It just never really came up with Keith seeing as where their friendship went. Downhill.
So when Keith, hot-headed, tough, and intimidating Keith looked up at him softly with those lilac eyes all soft and understanding and asked that Lance was a little more than surprised.
"Um, yeah. Yeah I will. Do you... do you want me to tell you, like, now?" he asked the Omega, hands tightening over the steering wheel.
"You can if you're ready to, you had a bad trigger Lance. I don't want to... force you into telling me about it if you aren't ready to tell me yet. I want you to tell me because you trust that it's the right moment to tell me, not because I put you on the spot," Keith replied, curling his knees into himself on the seat.
Lance... didn't know what to do with that. He didn't know how to handle soft Keith. But he did know that he was thankful, so he said it aloud.
"What are you thanking me for?"
"Well, because you're not overwhelming me with questions and demanding answers to them right away. You're giving me time to do things my way... so thank you. And yeah, I will tell you... one day. I promise I'll tell you one day.

FanfictionIt was a typical Friday for Keith. Go to school. Hate school. Leave school. Maybe occasionally the Omega would be chased by a dumb group of Alphas. Lance was also having a typical Friday afternoon. Leave practice then jog through the backstreets...
