Keith loved car rides.

He loves rolling down the windows and letting his tangled mane of hair flow in the wind.

He loved riding on his dad's motorcycle, feeling freedom in the speed unlike what running could give him.

He loved the thrill of the engine underneath him and the calmness of watching the land pass him.

It didn't matter that it was past midnight and sirens were wailing as he sat in the back of a police car. It didn't matter that he couldn't help the tears streaming down his face as he thrashed against his older brother and the blinding light of the fire.

He still loved car rides, even though he was being led away from the location that would be the last place he ever saw his parents alive.

He loved forgetting.

He loved how, for a moment, it blew the bad butterfly away. Right out the open window and away from his chest.

...

"Keith? What are you doing?"

The Omega ignored what Lance had just asked him and hopped into the passenger's seat. "Drive," he instructed.

"Is Shiro-"

"Fuck Shiro," Keith simply put, grabbing Lance's face and meeting it with his. Their lips crashed together and for a moment it was just a frenzy of hot breaths and teeth and tongue. There was nothing but heat and passion between the two. Hands were flying everywhere and Keith could feel himself beginning to sweat.

Fog began forming on the windows and the Omega could feel himself being pushed back, his urges were screaming at him to submit to the Alpha, but when had he ever listened to his urges right away? Instead, the Omega pushed right back, making a tiny battle out of the kiss.

God, neither one of them could get enough, but Keith pulled back after what felt like was too short a time. He didn't want to be in his driveway where Adam Shiro could walk right up to them when things got to where Keith was hoping they would go.

"Drive," he said again.

So Lance did just that, he backed out of the driveway and started driving down a random direction. The Alpha took a moment to catch his breath because fuck Keith was so fucking hot and he couldn't handle it. The Cuban held the steering wheel tightly, staring down the road.

"So where... where are we going Cariño?" Lance asked, fighting his blush and ignoring the tight feeling in his pants.

"I don't care Lance, somewhere. Just, drive," Keith sighed.

Lance could feel the mood shifting, but he tried his luck at lifting it. "Wanna go somewhere we can be all alone~" he asked.

Keith just smirked at him. "Always, Loverboy."

Lance smiled right back, happy that he didn't mess anything up.

"Hey, do you mind if I roll down the window?" Keith asked after a moment, looking over at the Alpha to gage his reaction.

"You don't need to ask Cariño," Lance hummed. The Alpha felt a strong cool breeze the moment he stopped talking. He chuckled, Keith's cute little quirks brought him such joy. The memories of earlier that night seemed to fade out of his mind the longer he thought about the Omega beside him. Lance wanted to know more of Keith s quirks. More about Keith in general.

He wanted to know about what the Omega's plans for his future was. Where he planned on going to college to or if he wanted to go to college at all. He wanted to know funny embarrassing stories about himself. He wanted to know if Keith was a dog or a cat person or some other person who preferred birds. He wanted to know a lot of big things about Keith, but he also wanted to know about small stupid things about the Omega,

He also wanted to know what irrational things Keith was afraid of. He wanted to know what the Omega liked for breakfast and what he liked in his coffee, if he like coffee at all. He wanted to know what his sneezes or morning voice sounded like. He wanted to know if the Omega could handle spicy food or if salt was too spicy for him. He wanted to know what his voice sounded like when he was singing and if he knew any lullabies by heart.

Of course, being that they had been friends for a long time, Lance already knew a lot of things about Keith. Like the deal with his parents and why he took self-defense classes, but they were never really that close. Thinking back to all of the little questions he had about Keith it made Lance sad that he didn't really take the time to get to really know the Omega on a personal level. Not when they were even basic friends at all. Lance felt angry with himself for not trying when they were younger, because then he could've asked Keith out ages ago! The Alpha wasn't really sure why he did so in the first place if he was being honest with himself, but man, it was the best decision he had made in a long while.

Keith trembling brought the Alpha out of his head and back into reality. He looked over at the Omega who had curled into himself on the seat, seemingly tensing every muscle in his body. It was like he was trying, but failing, to keep from shivering as his raven hair flew around his head from the wind.

It was just then that Lance noticed that Keith wasn't wearing a jacket, nor any shoes for that matter. The Omega had ran out of the house after him with no regard for himself and Lance felt like absolute shit for making the Omega do that. And now he was suffering the cold, it didn't matter that he was the one who wanted the window down, he could enjoy it more if Lance hadn't been stupid.

"You're so dumb," Lance sighed, finding a spot to make a u-turn.

Keith paused. "I don't know what you're talking about," he said, lips pursed.

"I shouldn't have taken you from your house in the first place, but you came out without a coat or any shoes? God Keith, don't be an idiot, take care of yourself and forget how I'm feeling," Lance glowered.

Keith barked right back. "First of all, I'm not an idiot, you are for blaming yourself at dinner! Second of all, I don't care if I'm cold, I'm going to take care of you and I'm gonna care about how you feel because I'm your boyfriend you idiot!"

Lance's eyes widened comically at Keith's words as the Omega suffered silently because shit he just said that he was Lance's boyfriend out loud.

"I-I mean if you-you're okay with th-th-that," he stammered, cursing himself for tripping over his words.

"Oh my lord Keith you have no idea how I am more than just 'okay' with that," Lance said after a moment, choking on his elation. Keith turned a brilliant shade of pink as Lance made a different turn then he planned.

"That-that's good... so where are you taking me then Loverboy? Somewhere where you-you can warm me up?" Keith teased in a sultry voice. He was trying desperately to make sure no awkward stretch hung over them.

"I think you'll be plenty warm tonight, we're going to my place. You have to meet my family now that you're my boyfriend," he replied. That shut Keith right up.

Lance couldn't wrap his head around it. Five minutes ago they were just two people who were going on dates and now he was officially Keith Kogane's boyfriend. He was Keith's Alpha and Keith was his Omega and that made him so happy. He was buzzing at the thought.

Keith on the other hand couldn't feel anything other than the strong flap of the bad butterfly over his lungs. Meeting Lance's family? Right then? Raincheck please. But he didn't want to seem bothered or mean or stuck up so he dealt with the bad butterfly. He wanted to make Lance happy, and throwing himself into an unexpected social situation was apparently the way to do that.

"What's wrong Cariño?" the Alpha asked. It was like a sixth sense, he could tell when Keith was uncomfortable without having to pick it up through the Omega's scent. He was just that in tune with the smaller male.

"I don't wanna sound weird about it but, I just don't think I'm up for meeting the family yet," Keith whispered, knowing that there was no use hiding things from Lance. They Alpha was too comforting and understanding for Keith to lie to.

Lance thought for a moment. "Well... if you're okay with coming over then I can just introduce you to my parents if they're home and we can retire to my room. You can... you can stay the night if you want. But only if you call Shiro later and tell him about it," the Alpha said.

Keith scowled. He didn't want to talk to Shiro and Lance knew it, but dammit he was going to have to talk to his brother and he knew it. Keith realized that he was being kinda childish but he couldn't push aside how hurt Lance seemed at dinner when everyone started fighting. And he wouldn't mind meeting just Lance's parents, especially not staying the night.

"Fine," he agreed. The Alpha smiled down at him before easing into a different lane, driving down the familiar roads back to his house. "Where were you planning on taking me in the first place?" the Omega asked.

"Honestly? I didn't really gave anything in mind. Maybe just drive around, perhaps go to the park, then take you home," Lance replied thoughtfully.

Keith bristled, "you were going to take me back to my house?"

"I mean, yeah," Lance said, feeling sheepish. "I know that you're angry with Shiro right now but he's still your brother. If there's anything I've learned about being the little brother who gets into fights with his older siblings is that they really do think that they're doing what's best for you. Even if they do have a weird way of going about it, a protective way that can get annoying, it's better to talk to them after you've cooled off a bit."

Keith huffed, he hated it when Lance was right about this kind of stuff.

The Alpha just chuckled, pulling onto the street just before his driveway. Keith was adorable when he was mad as far as Lance was concerned.
