Tris' POV

Christina comes into the room like she's about to have a mental break down. I don't know how she's so sad right now because she shopped very happily. Maybe it's that we left earlier than she hoped. Oh, well. We need to experience disappointment in life. Like being Caleb's sister. Or having to live with him. Or Augustus Waters dying of cancer in The Fault in Our Stars. There are too many reasons to keep thinking of this kind of stuff.

"Guys, Mom's making me get a... a... A Job!"  Christy shrieks in horror. She immediately starts crying. A lot. I'm not kidding. Plus her mascara is running.

I'm not seeing the issue with having a job. By now we should probably all have part time jobs... We're old enough to and should start being a little less dependent on our parents. Soon enough, we'll all be off for college and starting to get married or having kids. We need to know real life experiences for when we go off for our own lives.

"It's okay! I've got your back. We can work together at the dollar tree! I just have to ask my boss if it's cool with him! Is that any good?" Shauna asks.

"How much is the profit?" Christina questions.

"10 bucks an hour. Why?"

Then she starts her sob session once again. I don't get it though. She doesn't need too much money. What does she need it for anyways? She already has a car, nice clothes, great quality makeup, a cell phone... What else could she possibly want?

"Hey, Christy? Why are you crying? Again?" I ask her softly.

She cries slightly louder but after a minute or she calms down enough to talk clearly. "My mom said that I can't go shopping until I get my own money for it. They would always pay my shopping spree bills but now it has to be my money, and I won't get shoes in a long time if I have to work for that much," she explains.

Shauna speaks up this time and says, "You've got to start out somewhere. Millionaires don't start out as millionaires. So don't go all cranky on us. If you want I can be the one who recommends you for a promotion after a week of working there. It's fifteen dollars instead of ten and we'll have the same pay rate." In my mind I realize that I was born into riches. I don't usually take advantage of the money my parents get.

"I'd like that. I'd like that a lot," she says, sniffling a little bit.

"Christina maybe we should narrow down shopping trips to once a month. Then we can do a lot of stuff with the gang. Like movies and paint balling," I add.

She takes a minute to register what I said and looks at me on pure terror. She even adds a dramatic gasp to add 'effect'.

"How are we even friends?! Shopping is a necessity in life!"
