"Holly come here and help me carry these boxes in!" I yelled to my seven year old sister. We had just moved from California to a smallish town where everyone knew everyone. It was called Maderas (Spanish for Timber I think. Correct me if I'm wrong). There were a fair amount of shops like a supermarket, a few restaurants and cafés and other shops you'd expect.

There were hardly any clothes shops because the town wasn't big enough and because there was a giant mall in the next town over. It was surrounded by forest and trees. It was your typical small town. Just a bit more modern.

The house we moved into was really pretty. It was light blue with cream edging and a white roof. It had two stories and a really big garden. It was surrounded by trees and bush. If the outside wasn't pretty enough, wait till you see the inside. It was the same color scheme as the outside and was light blue with white and cream floors. We had the house pre-furnished so it already had the furniture that we wanted. The guys who furnished it were really close friends of my parents so they sort of knew what furniture they wanted and where everything was going to go.

It had four bedrooms. Three were upstairs and one was downstairs. The downstairs one was the guest bedroom. All the furniture in the living room and dining room was a dark oak wood so it contrasted with the pale-ness of the house.

The room I picked was on the far left of the house because it allowed me to see the garden and the forest beyond it. It was painted a light army green and all the furniture was very vintage looking because it was an off white colour with messy black outlines. The lamps were obviously very vintage. They were green, off white and looked like they were used a lot. The double bed was really pretty, it had a white duvet and sheets with a light blue throw with white polka dots and matching blue and white polka dotted pillows. It had one picture above my bed. The picture was of a boat called the Mayflower. It had walk in wardrobe in one of the walls which made my room a bit smaller than the others because they didn't have the walk in wardrobe. Then to top it all off there was a medium sized secretary desk that I could put my apple computer and my MacBook Pro on. By the desk there was a plain wooden chair that added a bit of vintage-ness to my desk.

So back to when I was yelling at my sister Holly to stop exploring the house and help with the boxes. The boxes just contained my computers, clothes, Holly's toys, decor, and mums collection of teacups, teapots and vases because the house was already furnished.

When Holly came running out of the house screaming, I ran up to her, hugged her and said "Holls what's wrong!". Worry masked my voice. When she calmed down she urgently said "There's a big scary man in our house Katie". I gasped, told my sister to stay there and ran towards the house.

I walked (as calmly as I could) in through the front door and saw a man with dark brown hair and piercing green eyes. He looked to be in his late 40's early 50's. He was really built and no wonder Holly said there was a big scary man in the house. Because he was quite intimidating.

"Who are you!" I sort of yelled at the man.

"Oh my goodness I'm sorry, how rude of me, I'm John Reeves"

"Well John Reeves what are you doing in our house!" I said with a bit of a hostile tone in my voice.

"I was welcoming you and your family to Maderas of course"

"Well you did a very good job with that by scaring Holly"

"Ah. Is Holly the little girl that ran out screaming before?"

"Yes she is and I'm Kaitlyn, and I don't like random people coming into my house and scaring my little sister to death"

"I would say she's still living but that would be rude of me" He said smugly.
