Recap:
"Naru-kun, you should be more cautious." I scolded him gently.
"But that's fine. At least you came with the intent to kill me." Kakashi chuckled. "How can I put this? I feel like I'm finally starting to like you guys. We're going to start. Ready....start!"
As he finished, Sasuke, Sakura, and I both jumped away. I hid among the trees. I noticed Naruto was still there, in plain sight in front of Kakashi-sensei. 'Oh, Naru-kun.....' I mentally facepalmed.
Chapter 21 - Ripping An Orange Book With Shurikens....Oops?
Kumiko's P.O.V.
"Okay, everyone is hidden pretty well...." Kakashi-sensei muttered lazily, before looking up at Naruto.
Naruto had a smug look on his face. "All right! Let's face off fair and square!"
'Naru-kun, you baka!' I facepalmed.
"What?" Kakashi said with an 'What the heck' face.
"That goof." Sasuke muttered, a few trees away from me.
"Say, aren't you a bit off kilter?" Kakashi-sensei asked.
"What's off kilter is your hairstyle!" Naruto retorted, and then began sprinting at Kakashi-sensei.
'No!' I thought as Kakashi-sensei reached a hand into his kunai pouch. 'Naru-kun's going to get hurt!'
I grabbed several shuriken from my own kunai pouch, and readied them in the spaces between my knuckles.
"I'll teach you the first Shinobi Battle Jutsu." Kakashi began. "Taijutsu." He began to withdraw his hand out of his kunai pouch.
I drew back my arm, ready to hit, and therefore redirect, whatever weapon Kakashi-sensei was going to use.
'Now!' I think as I threw the kunai. I realized my mistake too late. 'Eh?' I sweatdrop as Kakashi-sensei pulls out a orange book. 'Gah!' I exposed my location just to throw shuriken at a book!?!? The best Kakashi-sensei could do with it is bonk Naru-kun on the head! Gah!' I nearly animefell.
Kakashi-sensei stared at the shuriken with an horrified expression as they ripped through the book easily. "My....My b-book...." He whispered with horror and sadness. "I'll get you for this!" He roared, throwing a kunai where I was.
'Kuso....I need a new location now,' I thought as the kunai went straight towards me. "Teleportation no Jutsu!" I whispered, and I teleported into the branches of a tree across the clearing.
"Ahem...." Kakashi-sensei coughed, regaining his composure. He pulled out another orange book, and his eyes flickered around for signs of any approaching weapons before flipping it open with one hand. "What's the matter? Why don't you come at me?" He taunted Naruto.
"But hey...what's with the books?" Naruto asked in confusion.
"Why do you ask?" Kakashi-sensei said lazily, reading the book. "It's because I was curious about what happens next. Don't worry. With you guys as opponents, it makes no difference if I'm reading or not."
I irkmarked before sighing. 'I guess he's right. He's a Jōnin, and we are mere Genin. We have no chance.....' I blinked for a moment, as Naruto clenched his fists in anger.
"I'm going to rip you apart!" Naruto raged, charging at Kakashi-sensei again.
'Wait a moment....We were put in teams....a Genin against a Jōnin isn't possibly fair, even if said Jōnin is not using all of his power....' I blinked. 'So....We would have a better chance to beat him if we all joined together!....But....there's only three bells...' I shook my head. 'Doesn't matter. It's better if three of us could pass than none of us. There's a possible 2% chance, that I could defeat Kakashi-sensei alone and get the bells, against a much higher percentage of defeating Kakashi-sensei if we all join together, then a 25% chance of getting the bells when we chose....' I think as Naruto continues trying to attack Kakashi-sensei.
