Chapter 25 - "'Cause You Wore Cow Pants!"

Recap:

I frowned as I wiped away the blood. 'He heals very fast, like me...Normally, other than me, people heal slower....Oh! I guess being a jinchuuriki does that....' I thought as I dabbed some antibiotics on the cut (which was already starting to heal, but just in case), and wrapped his hand up in the white bandages carefully.

"Well....You should be okay." Kakashi-sensei stated, besides me.

"Yep! Sensei's right! Don't worry, Naru-kun!" I smile, and let go of his hand.

 

Chapter 25 - "'Cause You Wore Cow Pants!"

Kumiko's P.O.V

I try to peer through the mist as a man rowed our little boat.

"This is quite some fog. I can't see ahead." Sakura muttered.

"True that." I agreed softly.

We were enveloped in a silence, and eventually, the boat rower spoke. "The bridge should be visible soon. When we reach the other side of the bridge, we'll be in the Land of the Waves."

I nodded, before trying to see ahead like the others. I gasped softly as I saw a huge structure. "Oh....the bridge is much bigger than I thought it would be..."

"What? What bridge?" Naruto asked, squinting.

"You'll see it soon enough, Naru-kun." I nodded, and sure enough.....

"HEY! That's huge!" Naruto shouted.

"Shhh!" I told him. "There might be more people after Tazuna-san, we don't want to attract them unless necessary."

"Hey! Please keep it down." The bridge builder scolded. "I took this boat out under cover of fog. And I cut the engine and am rowing by hand. If they find us, we'll be in deep trouble!"

Naruto covered his mouth with both hands. "Sorry." He mumbled, his voice muffled by his hands.

"Tazuna-san," Kakashi-sensei began. "I want to ask you something before we arrive at the pier. The identity of your assailants, and the reason why they are after you. If you don't tell us, our mission may end when we land."

There was a silence as we stared at Tazuna. "It appears I have no choice but to tell you. Frankly, I'd like you to listen. Just as you said, this may be beyond the scope of your mission."

'May be beyond?! Old man, we are clearly new Genin, and B ranks are for higher Chunin.' I sighed mentally. 'Oh well, I always liked a challenge anyways, but, if I die, I'm gonna hunt him to death.' I smiled to myself.

"Actually, I am being targeted by a terrifying man." Tazuna paused for effect.

"A terrifying man?" Kakashi-sensei questioned. "Who?"

'Meh! Just get to the point, old man!' I thought, frowning impatiently. 'We need to make some kind of battle plan, at least.'

"You guys have probably heard at least his name before.....A short man by the name of Gato."

"What? Gato....of the Gato Company?" Kakashi-sensei widened his one visible eye in shock.

I blinked in surprise. "Wasn't he one of the richest people of this world? Why is he after you?" I wondered outloud.

"Who? What?" Naruto questioned us. "Who's Gato?"

I turned to Naruto and sweatdropped. "Naru-kun, I remember writing those notes for you in class half a year ago...Did you not read them?"
