The tension in the air was so thick, you could literally feel it.
Chapter 20 - A Black Cat Crossed My Path
Kumiko's P.O.V.
"Good!" Kakashi-sensei said lazily. "The four of you are very distinctive and interesting! We have a mission tomorrow!"
"Yes, sir! What kind of mission?" Naruto shouted excitedly.
"First, we'll do what we can do with just five people." Kakashi-sensei said lazily.
"What-what-what....what?!" Naruto questioned happily.
"A survival exercise." Kakashi intoned darkly.
'Eh?' I thought. 'Can't he just call it a survival exercise then? He doesn't have to make it all dramatic.'
"Survival exercise?" Naruto asked in confusion.
"Why are we doing a exercise even though this is supposed to be a mission?" Sakura complained angrily. "We've had more than our share of exercises in the Academy!"
"This is no simple exercise." Kakashi noted.
"Then...then what kind of exercise is it?" Naruto asked, almost holding a hand up (as if he was in class).
Kakashi began chuckling evilly.
'Why.....I'm not even begin describing how creepy that sounds....Anyhow, he should just tell us and stop being dramatic.'
"Hey! What's so funny, Sensei?" Sakura asked with an annoyed expression.
Kakashi kept chuckling. "Uh, well, if I tell you, I know you'll grow disenchanted."
"What?" Naruto asked in confusion.
"Of the 28 graduates, only nine or so will be recognized as Genin Ninjas. The remaining eighteen or so will be sent back to the Academy." Kakashi-sensei said darkly. "In other words, this exercise is an extremely difficult test with an failure rate of 68% or higher!"
'What? That means...there's about a 32% percent chance of this team passing!' I thought as I frowned, and Naru-kun freaked out.
