"Merry Christmas, Mum!"
The woman looked over at her son, smiling kindly. She patted his hair and kissed his forehead.
"Merry Christmas my Jisungie," she replied.
The boy beamed with a big grin and giggled, running away into the living room to hang more ornaments on the tree.
A man stepped into the kitchen where Jisung's mother was baking cookies. She wiped her hands on her apron and turned around.
"Hello," she greeted, her tone a bit darker that the one she used with her son. The man grinned and spoke.
"What did I tell you?" he asked. Jisung's mother grimaced and turned her attention to her cooking. She placed the chocolate chips in with the dough and began to mix.
"I'm not sure what you're talking about," she mumbled quietly.
The man grabbed her arm and sighed.
He squeezed his nails into her skin.
"Stop!" she hissed, her voice no more than a whisper, "That hurts!"
The man closed his eyes and hummed.
"What did I tell you? Don't give our son anything this year. He is a worthless faggot that does not deserve your love," he growled.
Jisung's mother didn't respond.
But his father did.
He slapped her.
She didn't react, but instead calmly faced him and smiled.
"And who does deserve my love?" she asked with some confidence.
Jisung's father rolled his eyes.
"I do, you slut."
He turned and went to his room.
Jisung ran into the kitchen again.
"Is papa home?" he asked his mother.
She turned around slowly and timidly smirked.
"Yes, but he is in a bad mood, I don't want you to bother him," she excused.
Jisung nodded slightly and pulled his mother into the living room.
"Look!" he cried.
His mother gazed at their Christmas tree, the lights and tinsel were thrown into the bottom section because Jisung could not reach much further.
The ornaments were hung in a crowded area, mostly consisting of handmade projects and creations from school.
"It looks wonderful," Jisung's mother sighed.
"I just wish papa would feel the same...."

Jisung slammed the fridge shut.
No food, no hope.
What else was new?
Christmas was the next day and Jisung had no one to celebrate with.
No Minho, no mother....
Hell, it would have been better to celebrate with his father.
Tears ran down his small face as he reminisced his favorite Christmas memory, even though his father was still a dickhead.
His phone buzzed, pulling him from his melancholy state.
Jisung picked it up and read over the notification. He opened it.

Felix😽

Felix tapped his fingers on the steering wheel of his car and hummed along to a popular song on the radio.

"Yeah, yeah, stay by my side,
yeah, yeah, I need you right by my side now."

The passenger door clicked open and Jisung threw himself inside. His eyes slightly lightened at the song on the radio and he began to sing along.

"Will you become my side? Let's run in step with each other,
We're going side by side, I wanna go with you,
Promise me,
I see myself in you."

Felix warmly looked at Jisung singing the words so nicely. He switched gears and drove to his house.
They sang together.

"Stay together!
You and I, you and I, you and I,
I'm by your side always! We're in the same place!"

The car slowed to a park in Felix's driveway. Felix persuaded Jisung to get out of the car.
Felix opened the door and let Jisung step inside.
Felix smiled at the warm welcome Jisung got.

Jisung wiped his tears away again and hugged Felix. Seungmin and Changbin grabbed him in a hug too.
"As long as you have us, you'll never have to be alone," Felix whispered to Jisung.
Jisung never cried harder.
It wasn't a cry that he wished he wasn't so weak, one that he had so often.
It was a cry of acceptance, a cry that he finally knew his place in life. He finally had someone to love and people to love him.
Felix our a small box in Jisung's hands.
"Open it," he muttered.
Jisung lifted the small lid off and smiled.

A key.
