Chapter - Six - Explanations
Bethany's POV...
We pulled away from the hug with wide smiles on our faces, "I'm sorry about the kitchen, mom." My smile turned apologetic as I said this.
She waves me off, "It's nothing." She says, "Besides we are Royals after all." She winked and I laugh at her.
She always seemed to know what to say to cheer me up again. Guess it's another mother secret that'll be a mystery to humanity.
"Still I want to make it up to you," I say with sincerity behind my words. I really did feel incredibly guilty, the kitchen was her comfort place and she enjoyed her time there more than anything, I felt angry at myself for losing my control over my temper like that, and it was incredibly scary too.
I wouldn't want another incident like this ever again.
"If you insist, you can use your powers to put everything back in place, it would also use for good training." She shrugs.
"Yeah, I insist, now how the hell do I get that wind back?" I say.
"Let's start with the easiest thing first, healing. That is if you have it. Let's get those wings of yours out, don't you think?" She says with an excited glint in her eyes, her smile was a little bit too big for my liking and she had a very weird habit of making me regret whatever she asked me to do with that expression and I really hoped that I wouldn't regret it this time around.
"Sure why not," I say, wariness in my voice as I stood up from the couch with hesitation clear in my actions.
"Close your eyes," She instructs, "Imagine your wings unfurling on your back. Like they were folded and you opened them."
I do as she says, at first I feel nothing so I try something else, I look around for a pair of wings in my soul and mind and I find them after a while, they were a pair of golden regal wings with the shine of the sun, they looked out of another world. They were shining in the middle of the dark giving off a warm glow that attracted me like a magnet attracts metal.
I grasp the wings in my hand and hug them to my chest tightly and when I'm sure they finally recognize me as their owner I let them go. They float above my head before I feel them slam into me from behind, a shocked gasp escapes my lips at the sensation that burst through me, I felt different but the same at once, I can now recognize an extension on my back as a third pair of limbs.
I open my eyes and look behind me and my jaw nearly hit the floor, my wings were folded on my back and they shone with a golden glow, sparkles littered my feathers and they were as big as the ceiling even when they were folded which made me look like an insect compared to them.
My mother gasped and my father almost falls from the couch in shock, his eyes wide as they stare at the new addition to my body, trying to print them into his memory so he can always come back to this point in time.
"They're a beauty, Beth." My father whispers in awe. "They're Golden!" My mother exclaims.
"Yeah.." I trail off in confusion at my mother's reaction. My mother huffs in frustration and disappears as she exits the living room.
She returns with a sheet of paper and slams it in my father's hand.
My father starts to open it but my mother stops his hand from any further movement, "Not here, go somewhere else." My mother instructs, he nods and scurries to get outside the house.
"What is it?" I ask slowly. "You're the first one with Golden wings since the dino age, Bethany, this isn't normal." She sighs and rubs her temples as she looks at my wings with a troubled expression.
