Chapter - Thirty - Two - Chris And Raydan

Bethany's POV...

"Princess, I apologize for the interruption," The Black featured boy said while staring down at my feet, his eyebrows furrowed while his eyes filled with fear.

"Its no problem at all..." I trail off, waiting patiently for him to give me his name. He looks up at me in surprise before looking back down at our feet, the submissive act making me frown harder.

This was very concerning and I really was starting to worry about this guy, he looked younger than me by two years, meaning he was probably sixteen give or take and the little boy in his arms was most likely six with how little his body seemed to be.

"Chris, Your Hi-"

"Bethany, its Bethany. Just Bethany is fine," I reply back quickly while still trying to find a reason for his brother to be here with him on this trip.

Unless...

"Okay," He replies with a nod, his voice small and shaky as he looked down at our feet.

"Chris, would you please accompany me on a walk?" I question softly with a warm smile to lessen his fear, he looks up at me in shock again, puzzlement clear on his young face before reluctantly nodding.

Sally gives me a pointed glare and I sigh while grabbing her arm and dragging her behind me, walking briskly down the path that we took a few minutes ago, I was smiling at anyone who looked at me in confusion, their face immediately brightening with a starstruck expression and smiling back, the guys that were my age were clearly showing me respect and would bow their heads when I looked their way.

I smile at their actions, thankful that so far, no one has tried to hit on me or act up in an unrespectable manner when I grin at them.

Fortunately, they didn't take any of my gestures in the wrong way and respected the mark that I wore proudly on my neck, everyone was either smiling, starstruck, or talking animatedly with their friends about me and everything I was doing.

But I can't get over how Chris acts like I would lash out at him at any given moment for the littlest mistake he makes. The way he refused to meet my eyes and looked at my feet was just horrifying to anyone watching, he was visibly shaking when I corrected him on my name like he was expecting me to hit him for his mistake.

What did these two go through?

I frown in concern and look down at the grass as we walk, trying to come up with a reason to their situation other than the one that was staring me right in the face. Even if that was the reason, why didn't the little kid stay back in the care of their caretaker? Something doesn't add up and it was seriously worrying me, this guy was a person in my pack and in my care, I may not be Queen yet, but I was still the Princess and I'm pretty sure princesses don't leave anyone under their care to fend for themselves, it was clear that these two were suffering through something horrible and I wasn't about to just leave like I didn't see anything.

"What the fuck are you doing? This was supposed to be a relaxing day for you!" I hear Sally growl lowly near my ear, her voice as sharp as a knife and making my blood start boiling at her total ignorance.

"Chris is under my care, Sally. Whether I like it or not I'm still the princess and the heir to this pack and kingdom, he clearly hadn't had a good rest in days, maybe even weeks and he needs our help. He looks like he's sixteen, Sally. We were starting to pluck our eyebrows at that age while he looks like he's taking care of his little brother all alone. My relaxing day can get thrown in the garbage if it means I can help this dude with whatever he's going through!" I mumble harshly to her, my eyes blazing with fury.
