Chapter - Twenty - Seven - Time Alone
Bethany's POV...
We reached the house in a few short minutes, hand-in-hand with smiles and laughs filling the atmosphere around us and making this magical and joy-filled bubble surround us in a comforting cocoon.
The heaviness of what my father had done was pushed to the back of our minds like it was nothing as we trekked the thick forest around the camp.
I was basically glowing with happiness with the smile covering my features, my eyes were squinted with how wide I was smiling and I felt lighter than air that had me have the slightest spring in my step.
I never knew that the afterglow of the semi-completed mating process was this effective, I was on cloud nine and I was filled with ground-shaking joy, feelings of happiness that I haven't felt for years were the only thing I knew besides my mate.
Nothing could bring me down today, not even the thought of the rising danger that came in the image of Brody.
I giggle loudly as Jack sweeps low and picks me up bridal style, hitting his bare chest playfully with the loudest of laughs that I heard, my laugh accompanied by his filling the forest with the joyful sound.
"Put me down right now!" I say through giggles when he keeps poking my sides, my ticklish body betraying me as the hysterical feeling bursts through my body.
"I like you right where you are, so that's a no, Cariad." He laughs and continues his merciless tickling that had me gasping for breath while uncontrollably laughing.
"Jack! Please! Stop!" I cry out in laughter.
He laughs along with me and continues his sweet torture, literally.
I keep laughing for what felt like years and squirm in his arms, fighting for freedom and some air to breathe. I was starting to feel dizzy from the assault and Jack most likely felt it as he suddenly stops his poking but keeps me caged in his embrace.
I gasp for air as soft chuckles flow past my lips every now and then, closing my eyes as my surroundings blur and spin in dizzy circles.
I groan and rub my head as an oncoming headache starts making its appearance, opening my eyes and pouting at Jack with furrowed eyebrows.
"Now you made me dizzy," I whine with a huff of irritation, his booming laugh immediately wiping any trace of the frown as a soft smile takes over my features despite the pounding of my head.
"Don't do that again," I slap his chest with the deepest frown on my face, forcefully removing the smile from my features to show him that I was mad.
"You're too adorable for your own good," He chuckled and leans down to Eskimo kiss me, the cute gesture wiping the frown just as fast as his laugh had done.
"Stop acting cute, I wanna be mad," I pout up at him and his booming laugh filters into my eardrums.
"I don't think it's possible to not be with you, Cariad." He says with his mega-watt smile of his, immediately melting my inside and leaving me to be putty in his arms.
I close my eyes and sigh, leaning my head on his arms to get some shut-eye, "I'm tired, is it okay if I sleep here until we reach our house?" I ask softly looking up at him in permission.
