Chapter - Sixteen - My Turn
Bethany's POV...
I gasp in horror and look at Jack's tear-stained face in terror, grabbing his face delicately in my hands, I rub his tears away with shaky thumbs.
I hold his face tenderly in my hands and look at his eyes with understanding eyes, clear of any pity and sympathy as I tried my best to provide my comfort through the bond. I didn't want him to feel wreak because of his tears, I did once and I don't want him to. It was clear that he hadn't talked to anyone about this and only a handful of people know this and I felt deeply touched that he was a sharing it with me so soon in our relationship.. And a bit guilty to be honest.
It made me feel so much guilt that he was telling me this when I never asked even though I never told him my secret when he did ask and it was making me feel extremely selfish.
But even though his past is dark, mine was something that wouldn't even come close to what he went through and that's saying something.
Every type of torture and every fear of mone was used against me and the man that caused all that was once my best friend.
"It's okay, it's okay to cry, Jack," I say to him and hug him close to my body with as much strength as I can.
"I-i ended up prematurely shifting and attacking him. Even with the silver and wolfsbane, he injected in my system, I managed to force my wolf out and shift into a black wolf, bigger than my age and looked like a full-grown wolf instead of a small pup." Jack continued even with the sobs racking his body and shaking his form under my gentle arms.
"After I managed to knock him out, I grabbed my mother and rode with her on my back all the back to my home town, which was a state over. We managed to make it in about three hours and when we got there, I ran directly towards the hospital in my pack.
"When we got to the hospital they tended to my mother's body first while I stayed shifted and with Zach, after another hour they managed to save his eyesight, even when his injuries were fatal towards his eyes, and he was put to the hospital for at least two weeks. Since he was still a newborn, his werewolf gene was not very dominant so he needed Alpha blood to heal his stitch marks without leaving scars, my father was out searching for us and my mother wasn't born to Alpha blood so I shifted back.
"My body was absolutely exhausted but I forced them to take blood from me instead of giving me any blood to replace the amount I've lost from my injuries, I ended up knocked out for a month straight, my body was still traumatized and my brain shut down to heal itself from the things it witnessed." His tears dried and he was talking in a monotone, no emotion coating his voice in the slightest.
Silence falls upon us and I keep my hold on him, not faltering for a second and instead, tightening whenever I feel a tear hitting my shoulder. The silence is somewhat comforting with only Jack's sniffing and our breathing to fill it.
"Can I meet him? Zachary?" I ask gently and Jack freezes in my hold for a moment before pulling away from me.
"Why?" He asks in apprehension and caresses my face.
"I want to meet him..." I pause and look down at my fingers as I nervously play with them, "And your family if that's okay."
I keep my head down as I hear him sigh through his nose and clench his fist, "You know, you don't have to feel neglected to meet him. Or my family. Because of what I told you." He sighs and pulls at my chin so I can look at him and I bite my lip when my electric blue eyes meet his forest green.
