Chapter 7: Guardian Angel

My eyelids flutter open revealing an unfamiliar setting. The scent in the blankets covering me tickles my nose as I inhale the familiar scent. Masculine, just like him. My cheeks turn a deep shade of pink as I recall the events of last night. I suddenly remember that I'm in another man's apartment. In his bed! "Nathan will kill me." I mutter to myself. I tense as I realise I said that loud. I sit up and look beside me, but I'm greeted with an empty pillow and more sheets. A part of me is kinda disappointed. I sigh as I reach out for my phone to check the time.

08:07 AM

And I notice I have a message. He must have taken his number and saved himself on my phone while I was asleep. An amused smile appears on my face as I see what he saved himself as.

My Angel
Good morning sweet thing. I left the key on the table. Lock up and keep it.

Jimmy
Okay...My Angel?

My Angel
Yeah. I'll always be your gardian angel. And don't worry I haven't forgotten about last night; I'll get you back for what you've done.

"Babe!" Nathan beams with a bunny smile. I quickly grab his arm and pull him aside with a serious face.

"Hey keep it down, I'm at work!"

"But it's lunchtime." He whines but continues with a wide grin, "Anyway, I got you something." He says while handing me a gift bag.

"What's the occasion?"

"Do I need an occasion to spoil my boyfriend?" He shoots a wink. "C'mon open it already! I know you'll love it." So I opened the carefully wrapped box eyeing him occasionally. My heart literally stops when I see it.

"So...what do you think!"

"N-nathan this is expensive" I stutter.

"I know. Don't worry about the money." He assures,"Anyway why did you call me by my name? You normally call me Cutie."

My mood quickly turns from shocked to bothered. How do you tell your loving boyfriend you woke up in another man's bed today? You can't.

"I can't accept this." I mutter softly

"Why? I know you've always wanted the camera with the great lenses and stuff or whatever you call it."

"I wanted to buy it myself! Why do you think I took this job?" I glance around and when I see nobody is looking at us yet I turn my eyes back to him.

"Exactly babe." He starts caressing my hand which is on the table,"Now you can quit waiting tables and do what you've always wanted to do." He coos

"Do I look like some charity case to you?!" I blurt out, completely annoyed.

"I never meant for it to look that way. I was just trying to do something nice and thoughtful."

I calm down at his sincerity, "Please just return that and save your trust fund money."

"You can't be seri--"

"Just do it." I admonish, "lunch break is over now so see you later." I bluntly say before leaving not giving him a chance to protest.

AJ P.O.V

"AJ! What a surprise" Steven exclaims with a hint of confusion on his face.

"Wow. I didn't know you guys were friends to the point where you visit each other." Richard says pouting his lip.

"Me too." Steven backs him

"I'm so hurt. It took you five years to visit me but it only takes you five days to start visiting Steven! Why friend-cheat with my best friend of all people" Richard clutched his heart and fake cries. Oh my goodness the drama. And just when I think he's one of a kind Steven joins him.

"Oh forgive me my dear friend, it only happened once." They burst out in laughter.

"Is Jimmy home?" I interrupt their role-play

"No he's not." Richard says furrowing his eyebrows.

"Not anymore." A voice says behind me and I swiftly turn around, allowing myself to admire this breath-taking view in front of me.

"Hey" I greet

"Hi Ad-- AJ. I believe you're here for these." He gracefully hands me the keys.

"Thanks" I say before placing a soft kiss in his lips. Leaving him completely stunned. I could see Richard's mouth wide open in shock with the corner of my eye. Steven looked amused. "Goodnight." I coo at him before leaving. Leaving him with a whole lot of explaining to do to his friends. Revenge is sweet!
