Adam ran a mental checklist, making sure he didn't forget anything. After realising he was only left with packing he sent Jimmy a text detailing the time of their flight. He stood still and stared at his phone, his eyes ready to detect a reply. Five, Ten seconds passed, then fifteen. Jimmy could be doing anything right now, but his mind started filling with 'what ifs' as he counted the seconds. And the question 'what if he was attacked again?' was awfully consistent.
He frustratedly tossed his phone and it landed on his clothes which were spread on the bed. He was sure he was going crazy. His eyes shut as he felt his head spin, an uncomfortable feeling settling in his stomach. He was always anxious lately. A rhythmic knock broke him out of his worries. Before he even opened his eyes he knew who it was. Only Richard had that knock.
"Samantha said I'd find you here..." Richard carelessly sat on the first chair he saw. "Going somewhere?" Richard's eyes fell on the scattered clothes on the bed. Adam shut his eyes one more time; he wasn't inclined to talk but Richard hadn't notice and even if he did he'd only intentionally stay longer. Suddenly needing something to do, he started packing.
"Just collecting the rest of my clothes." He lied.
"Don't tell me you're moving in the mansion full time?! I can't visit you there! You know your mother doesn't like me." Richard whined.
"At least she's not trying to kill you." AJ said nonchalantly while he continued with his activities.
"What do you mean by that?" AJ pauses for a few seconds but does not spare Richard a look.
"Nothing." He finally says. Dissatisfied by Adam's answer, Richard watches AJ suspiciously. AJ felt Richard staring at him and he knew he wouldn't let this go, so AJ decides to change the topic. "Came to invite me to another party?" That seemed to distract Richard. He spun the chair around to face AJ's laptop which was on the desk and started fiddling with the mouse.
"Nah, just bored." AJ absently continued packing his clothes, constantly casting an eye on his phone to check for a beep but there was still nothing. He took a breath to calm himself down. "Oh! I never knew you guys decided to go to Spain for your honeymoon." AJ's breath hitched in his throat and his body tensed to become still. "I thought Samantha wanted to go to Paris though. What changed her mind?" Richard's words sounded so foreign in AJ's ears that he cringed. Although the wedding was all he heard his mother talk about at home, he never got used to the idea, nor was he invested in it. It was as though someone else was getting married. "Wait... Tomorrow?" AJ came out of his trance as a silent sigh escaped his lips. "I think you booked tickets for the wrong date AJ." Richard said matter-of-factly, his eyes still glued to the laptop.
"I didn't."
"This is for tomorrow... Wedding first and then honeymoon, not the other way around."
"I know." Richard casually spun back around to look at AJ.
"Then what the hell is this for?" AJ didn't answer and by the way he was so absorbed with the packing, Richard was sure he didn't want to and definitely wasn't going to. He got up from his chair and walked diagonally towards AJ like a man on a mission. When his knees hit the side of the bed, he crossed his arms.
"Adam..." Richard saw AJ lift his eyes to capture his, his eyebrow arced in surprise. He had never used his real name before and hearing it caused AJ to finally give Richard undivided attention.
"Why the hell are you packing?"

Dinner was great so far. Minus the awkwardness I felt around Mr Walter. His mother, on the other hand, was a great host and she gave us a warm welcome into her cozy home. The house had an exotic feel to it. Filled with eclectic colourful patterns and antique souvenirs, reflecting her personality. She and Steven clicked at first sight that she even gave us the permission to call her Carmella.
