Finally the lecture was over and Nathan was the last one to leave the theatre. Nathan was just packing up when he noticed Jimmy standing by the exit, looking at him expectantly. He swung his back pack over his one shoulder and waved goodbye to the lecturer before walking up to Jimmy.
Jimmy's heart raced as Nathan neared him. He came to apologise for abruptly ending their happy relationship. This was the first time he saw him after they broke up and felt bad for leaving him without any explanation. Nathan had been nothing but good to him. Before they started dating they were best friends and when they dated their relationship was skewed towards friendship more than romance. They would talk about almost anything. From fears to dreams. Jimmy honestly just wanted his friend back.
"Hey." Nathan said looking at bit surprised by Jimmy's visit. Suddenly Jimmy lost his voice. He tried open his mouth but everything was jumbled. He decided to quit looking like a fish gasping for air and close his mouth, because anything he would say right now would be incoherent. So he took the easiest way out.
"Uhm I finally bought that camera." He awkwardly said, scratching the back of his neck. 'Stupid' he muttered to himself. The whole speech he practised in front of the mirror was now out the window.
"Oh. I'm happy for you."
"Thanks." Jimmy's voice was breathy due to his nerves. After realising that he had just ended their short conversation he started walking away, silently cursing himself for his stupidity.
"You wouldn't come all the way here just to tell me that now would you?" Jimmy came to a halt and turned around to face a curious Nathan once again.
"Right. Would you like to go for drinks? I'll pay of course." Jimmy said giving a soft smile.
"That'd be lovely."
They walked to the closest café. Talking and laughing like old times. Nathan was telling Jimmy about his boring lecturer and how he went on and on about quantum computing. As much as Nathan loved computer science, he wasn't a fan of theory.
"I'd like a chocolate smoothie." Nathan told the lady taking their order. She nodded and looked at Jimmy.
"Lemonade."
"Is that all you ever drink." Nathan teased and Jimmy playfully fisted him on the arm before paying. They took their drinks and started walking aimlessly.
"I missed this." Nathan breaks the silence. Jimmy can't deny that he missed hanging out with Nathan too but he had to do what he came here to do in the first place before Nathan has other ideas.
"Listen, I just want you to know that our break up had nothing to do with you. You did nothing wrong...it's just that it's--"
"Someone else?" Nathan interrupted his sentence making Jimmy snap his head to the side to look at him. Jimmy gulped.
"How did you know?"
"By now you should know that Richard is a bad liar." Nathan said staring at the road ahead. "Don't be mad at him though, I kind of fished it out of him." Jimmy nodded not knowing what to say. He was grateful that Nathan was not making eye contact right now.
"I'm sorry you had to find out from Richard." Nathan comes to a halt and finally looks at Jimmy.
"I'm not mad at you too. I just want us to be friends again." Jimmy's face lit up. He suddenly felt so light like a heavy burden has been lifted off his shoulders.
"I'd like that too." Jimmy said with a grin and Nathan fist-bumped him before they continued walking.
"So, how did you know AJ?"
"Well that's a long story."
"I have an hour before my next lecture starts so I have time to kill." Nathan says before sipping his smoothie.
"Promise you won't tell anyone. Not even Rich!" Jimmy warns.
"I won't. I promise." Nathan holds his free-hand up defensively. Jimmy takes a deep breath.
"It all started seven years ago...

AJ P.O.V
My mother had invited Samantha and I for dinner, and I sighed as I opened the main door. I was really not up for pretending tonight, but I did not have much of a choice.
"Hey you two." My mother welcomed us with a soft smile and hugged Samantha. "You look beautiful."
"Thank you. You too Stephanie."
"Adam..." She kissed my cheek
"Hey mom."
"You hardly visit these days."
"Well he's been working hard lately. He hardly spends time at home." Sam chimes in and I couldn't be more grateful. I force a smile and nod.
"Yep that's right." Without another word I dash to the dining table, leaving Sam and my mom to do some catching up. There I find my dad, Mike, my little sister Eva and her best friend Connie.
"Ahhh!" Eva screams when she sees me and jumps from her seat to hug me.
"Okay okay I get it you missed me." I finally separate her from me. "How's school?" I ask poking her cheek.
"Wow. We must be invisible." Mike interrupts Eva before she could say anything.
"And you still wonder why you aren't the favourite brother." Eva shoots back.
"Or the hotter one." Connie adds. Mike rolls his eyes at that.
"Dinner's ready everyone." My mom says while placing the food on the table with Sam.
"Yey!" Both Eva and Connie exclaim and then they giggle after realising that they said that the same time. I silently chuckle. They're practically twins.
"How are the wedding preparations going?" My father finally speaks.
"Well everything has been crazy but Stephanie has been helping a lot." Sam says excitedly.
"Oh dear it's no problem at all." My mother cooes.
"AJ has also been amaizing. He's been involved a lot and that makes things easier." I give her a soft smile before getting back to my food.
"I see someone's ready to be a husband." Mike mocks, "so has your other friend agreed to be your groomsmen?" I almost choke on my food. I look up to Mike who's right opposite me trying hard to hide my anger.
"No." I manage to neutralise my voice.
"Well I'm just glad that you are finally taking responsibility son." My father breaks the brief silence.
"Speaking of responsibility, I have good news." Sam says and clutches my arm tighter.
"Oh?...what is it?" My father asks curiously. I also set down my folk and look at her. I lost my appetite anyway.
"Well AJ and I... we're pregnant!"
