AJ P.O.V

"How can you be so careless at such a critical time Adam?" I let out an exasperated sigh trying to think harder.

"I don't know...It's been lost for a while. I thought I would've found it by now." I banged the kitchen drawers in frustration.

"You do realise it's just days before the wedding and you have to get your marriage licence."

"Relax mom. I'll find it...soon." My mother gives me a look before taking a sip of her tea.

"Sort it out."

"Good morning family!" Sam greeted as she walked in the kitchen, holding a shopping bag in hand.

"Oh Sam where were you so early in the morning?" My mother asked out of curiosity because of her good mood.

"I just went to buy a few things" She kissed my cheek before continuing. "cravings."

"Ahh shouldn't your lazy husband-to-be be doing that?" I gave my mother an annoyed look while the ladies shared a laugh.

"Really mom I'm not that bad."

"Tell me that when you've found your identity document."

"Speaking of which..." Sam scratches in her purse before taking out what looks like my ID.

"What's my ID doing in your purse?"

"I was hoping you'd tell me."

"Anyway that doesn't matter. All you need to know is that you...are...a...lifesaver." I said between kisses while gently taking my ID from her. "See mom I told you I'd find it...soon." I gave her a victorious smile.

"Get dressed and go before you lose it again."

"I love you too mom!" I shouted behind her as she walked out before turning to Sam.

"Oh and I forgot to tell you...I bumped into your friend at the grocery store."

"Richard?"

"No Jimmy." My body tensed immediately. "And guess what?"

"What?"

"He said he'll be at the wedding. Isn't that great?!"

"Yeah." Her smile faded after noticing that I don't share the same enthusiasm.

"Love, I thought you'd be happy. What's the matter?"

"Nothing. I'll be ready in 5 minutes." I took my ID on the kitchen counter and left, ignoring Sam's voice calling after me.

"I'm sorry sir but you do not qualify for a marriage licence."

"How come?" I looked at the cashier completely dumbfounded. "Like is there some kind of criteria?" She pressed her computer before looking back at us with the same facial expression.

"It says here that you are already married sir."

"What?!" Sam exclaimed before looking at my equally confused self.

"But that's not possible."

"I'm afraid it clearly states otherwise here." She said with apologetic eyes. "Issuing a marriage licence to you would be illegal."

"AJ what is going on?"

"To whom am I married to?" I asked the lady, ignoring Sam's question. She continued pressing her computer.

"Jimmy Parker."

...

The only question that was in my head was how did this happen? The faint music from the radio and the city rush are the only things piercing through the air. I can feel Sam occasionally staring at me and the fact that we are stuck in traffic is not helping.

"What?" She stares back at the road before answering

"You didn't seem too surprised." She looked back at me after a while of silence. "Are you not going to say anything?"

"You didn't ask a question."

"Okay then. How come you're married to your friend?"

"Probably a glitch in the system or something."

"If it was really a glitch then why him out of all people? I mean it could've been anyone." She said while crossing her arms across her chest in anticipation for my answer.

"It was just a coincidence."

"I don't believe that."

"What do you want me to say then?" I scowled completely annoyed by her interrogation.

"AJ there are just way too many coincidences when it comes to this guy!" She is not gonna let this go is she. I sigh as I look back at the road while she continues. "You claim that he's your friend but you get upset at the mention of his name. And I saw the way your mother looked at him the other day. Is he some kind of enemy or something?"

"I don't wanna talk about it."

"Answer my question AJ! How should I even know bumping into him today was a coincidence?!" That's when it hit me.

*Flashback*

"Oh and I forgot to tell you...I bumped into your friend at the grocery store."

"Richard?"

"No. Jimmy...

*End of Flashback*

"Are you even listening to me AJ?!"

"Sam tell me...did he get access to your purse?" She calmed down before answering.

"Well I went to the ladies and asked him to stand in for me. I left my bag there too."

*Flashback*

"Speaking of which..." Sam scratches in her purse before taking out what looks like my ID.

"What's my ID doing in your purse?"

"I was hoping you'd tell me."

*End of flashback*

"That explains it.." Sam looks at me questioningly. That's when I realise I said that out loud.

"Are you still not gonna tell me what's going on?" I give her a reassuring look.

"Don't worry I'll fix this."

"I guess not." She gives a defeatet sigh. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

"Just don't tell anyone."
