Chapter 1: Seven years

AJ P.O.V

I can't help but laugh at Richards horrible dance moves. He has many talents but dancing isn't one of them.

"Come on AJ, come dance with us!" Richard shouts over the music while stumbling towards me with a wide grin on his face. Obviously a bit tipsy.

"No,no I'm cool right here," My smile replaced by an uninterested expression "Go and have fun." I say pointing to the group of girls he was entertaining with his 'state of the art' moves. Now I see why he always uses his intellect to impress the ladies instead.

Richard raises his hands as if surrendering, "Don't say I didn't try...you are missing out big time." That's the last thing he says before dashing away from me to the girls with a rather stupid grin on his face.

He seems to be having fun but for me it's quite the opposite. This is not really my kind of scene. I can't even hear myself think. I only enjoyed these kinds of places back in high school. When we'd enter the clubs with fake IDs, drinking till we get wasted. By 'we' I mean me and my then best friend...

Jimmy

A sharp pain slices through my heart at the mere thought of him.

He really knew how to make me rebel, let loose. It's really true what they say it's not where you are but it's who you're with. I'm not saying that Richard is boring or anything. In fact I think Richard is way more free-spirited but Jimmy was special, he captured my heart and more importantly he was gay.

Yep, that's right. I'm gay. It's been seven years and I'm still in the closet. Pathetic right? Well to my defence I've never been interested in any other guy ever since I lost --- him...And I don't think I'll ever be, so coming out isn't really worth it right now considering the public attention I'll be getting, the insults from oponents and dealing with my old-fashioned and narrow-minded father.

A/N: Pretty short I know, I'll try and make the second chapter longer. If there's any confusion AJ and Adam is the same person.
