AJ cursed internally when the sound of awake voices reached his ears. He was hoping everyone would still be sleeping. But he smiled at the sight of Samantha's father.

"If it isn't my son-in-law." Samantha's dad greeted fondly, forcing an end to his lively conversation with AJ's father as both men looked at him.  AJ closed the door and moved closer for an energetic handshake coupled with a brief hug.

"Mr Walters! It's been a while." AJ greeted back. His mission to avoid his family long forgotten.

"Did you go somewhere?" AJ's father questioned as he assessed Adam after realising it's 6am.

"Uh I went jogging." AJ said, his voice breathy as he stuffed his hands in his pockets.

"In jeans?" AJ bit his lip as he realised he forgot that little detail.

"It was actually a walk...to clear my head."

"C'mon Frank! Give the lad a break." Samantha's father lit up the mood as he pat Frank's shoulder. "He just has pre-wedding nerves. Nothing to worry about!"

AJ couldn't be more grateful for the save. It was no secret that Adam admired Samantha's father. The man is pleasant to be around. His conversations are interesting and free flowing due to his diverse knowledge and wisdom. He is very approachable,  rich but lives a humble life, strict but not controlling, noble but not boring. He was sure that Richard would just be like him when he grows old.

"Yeah and this suspension has also been taking it's toll on me." AJ nodded  in agreement hoping to change the topic.

"You know son, I think it's time for you to hang your gloves and join the corporate world." AJ nodded hesitantly before his phone rang.

"Sure dad." Was all he said after glancing at the caller ID, trying hard to contain his smile.

"Hey." He was now standing in the passage where he took the call.

"Where did you disappear to?"

"I had to come back home. Sorry I didn't leave a message."

"And here I was thinking you went shopping so you can make me breakfast." AJ laughed.

"I'll make it up to you." Jimmy smiled at the thought of seeing Adam again.

"Tonight?"

"Not today. My dad is dragging me to this thing they're hosting...wants me to network." AJ rolled his eyes.

"Sounds boring." Jimmy giggled before continuing. "So should I lock up like last time?"

"Yeah and you can keep the keys... they're yours."

"Is that your way of asking me to move in?!" Jimmy teased.

"More like unlimited access." AJ, who was leaning on the wall caught sight of his mother walking towards him and cleared his throat before biting his smile."Uhm I gotta go, bye."

"Bye."

"You didn't have to end your call on my account." He stuffed the phone in his pocket.

"I was done anyway." Stephanie looked at him for a bit longer.

"You didn't sleep here last night." She blurted out.

"I slept at the condo. Big deal?!" AJ snapped as he remembered what Jimmy told him about his mother last night.

"Don't you dare raise your voice at me Adam." He sighed in defiance and put his hands in his pocket once again. "And let me remind you that you are getting married this Saturday to Sam."
