The Next Day:
Hikaru woke up and looked at Kaoru. Smiling softly, he leaned down and laid a gentle kiss on Kaoru's stomach. Suddenly Hikaru felt a kick. Hikaru's eyes widened and he gently laid his head on Kaoru's stomach.

Hikaru felt a warm smile grow on his face as he felt the baby moving. He started to think. Maybe he should come up with a couple names. Hikaru got out of bed and opened the closet. He looked behind him to make sure Kaoru was still asleep. He then uncovered a box and opened it.

Looking at the clothes and small stuffed animal for the baby. He smiled, he couldn't wait to see the look on Kaoru's face when he saw how exited he really was. Hikaru suddenly heard Kaoru waking up and hid the box again.

Kaoru looked at Hikaru with a very mild suspicion but seemed to brush it off as he got dressed in his now big and baggy clothes. Hikaru giggled, noting that the clothes actually looked rather good on him, that or it was the pregnancy glow. Kaoru walked downstairs where Haruhi was making breakfast.

Hikaru sat on the bed and pulled his phone out, looking at several different names. Hikaru paused for a moment before looking at different flowers. Sakura (Japanese cherry), and Sumire (violet). Hikaru liked the sound of the two names, if the baby's a girl. Then he looked at other names, Gema and/or Ryuto, if it's a boy.

Hikaru then heard talking downstairs. He walked down the stairs quietly, still excited from the name research.

Haruhi: Kaoru, how has the baby been doing?

Kaoru sighed, not wanting the subject to be brought up.

Kaoru: Fine...

It was silent for a few moments.

Kaoru: I want to give them up for adoption...

Hikaru froze, all the excitement and happiness from earlier spilled out of the sudden hole in his heart. And he was left with nothing.

Haruhi: You're giving them up?

Kaoru: Yeah... I don't want to deal with this right now... I don't want to make our lives more difficult...

Haruhi looked down.

Haruhi: For me... Shiromi is worth the difficulty... because I have her here with me, a little life I brought into the world that I get to love and cherish... besides, she was all I had after you guys left, the main thing that kept me from giving up...

Kaoru didn't say anything.

Haruhi: I know parenting isn't for everyone... and I'm glad you're at least giving the baby a chance to live... I'm definitely glad you have better circumstances, but please tell me you'll find them good, loving parents...

Kaoru: I'll try... but I don't always succeed...

Haruhi: Nobody always succeeds...

Haruhi was silent for a moment.

Haruhi: And... you're not going to tell Hikaru...?

Kaoru shook his head.

Kaoru: He'll just get upset with me for being pregnant in the first place... likely leave as well... I just don't feel like I want to deal with all of this now...

Haruhi looked down, trying to ignore the horrible feeling in her gut.

Haruhi: If you say so... but I'd feel better if you had his consent for the adoption... It may be even worse if he finds out about all of this when he actually wanted the baby...

Kaoru: I know... I don't think he does... I mean Hikaru loves his free life with mischief and goofing around... I don't think a baby will let him keep that life, so no... I don't think he'd want the baby...
