Chapter 11.

Two Days Later
Haruhi walked awkwardly into the kitchen and stood next to Kyoya.

Haruhi: Hey...

Kyoya: Hello...

Haruhi was quiet for a moment.

Haruhi: So... about what happened a couple days ago... How did you feel about, Shiromi calling you dad....?

Kyoya looked at Haruhi and smiled.

Kyoya: To be honest, I feel really happy about it...

Haruhi looked at him in surprise. She wasn't expecting that reaction to him being mistaken as a child's father.

Haruhi: Really?

Kyoya nodded.

Haruhi: Why...?

Kyoya paused to think of a good response. He sighed in defeat, he couldn't hide it anymore.

Kyoya: I have been trying to figure the best way to tell you this... but... I love you, and I love Shiromi...

Haruhi: Y-you do...?

Kyoya: I want to take care of and raise Shiromi like she's my own daughter... I love her and I want to be there as she grows up... I'm sure that she'll grow up to be as intelligent and beautiful as her mother... and I want to be a part of seeing that, and making that a reality...

Haruhi's face went red as Kyoya leaned a little closer to her.

Kyoya: I know you dealt with tough times the last time you were in love. But I promise, I will do everything I can to make this relationship work. I will love and cherish you and Shiromi forever... and I promise, I will do what I can to make this difficult life easier... If you'll accept this confession... well, actually I'll love you both and help you regardless of your answer. Because I know you and Shiromi deserve a better life...

Haruhi was speechless. She didn't know what to say.

Haruhi: K-Kyoya... I-... I love you too...

Kyoya: You do?

Haruhi nodded.

Haruhi: I know you say you have to make up for what happened senior year... but you already have, I couldn't be more thankful for what you've done to help Shiromi and I... thank you so much for being here...

Kyoya placed his hand next to hers and kissed her. Haruhi kissed back, grabbing and holding Kyoya's hand in hers. They pulled away a couple moments later and looked at each other. The two smiled at each other and embraced in a hug, followed by another kiss as they held each other.

Kyoya: So, can I be Shiromi's father? Tamaki likely won't come back into the picture anytime soon...

Haruhi smiled and leaned into Kyoya's arms.

Haruhi: I think Shiromi will really appreciate that Kyoya...

The two stood there for several moments, enjoying the warmth of the embrace.

Haruhi: *giggle*

Kyoya smiled at Haruhi.

Kyoya: What?~

Haruhi: So I guess Shiromi's first word was her welcoming you to the family...

Kyoya laughed and kissed the top of Haruhi's head.

Kyoya: You have no clue how much I love you Haruhi...

Haruhi: *giggle* I can imagine...
Meanwhile
Hikaru and Kaga were in class, both blushed as they locked eyes.

Hikaru: Hey, I've been meaning to say this for a bit but, yesterday was so wonderful... I never thought I'd have such a good experience come from a walk...

Kaga's face went a more noticeable pink color.

Kaga: I'm glad to hear I'm pleasant to be around...

Hikaru laughed as the teacher came into the classroom.

Hikaru: "What is going on with me? Do I... love Kaga?"

Hikaru looked away from Kaga and shook his head. Even if he did love Kaga, he was still technically in a relationship with Kaoru.

Despite the pain he was going through at that point, he didn't want to just break up with Kaoru. Even if he had no chance of being a father, there could still be hope for them to work things out and stick together. But, what if he was starting to get serious feelings for Kaga?

There's nothing he could do then... Hikaru sighed. Hopefully Kaga doesn't like him in that way, because he'll stay with Kaoru despite the recent circumstances. Hikaru was going to work things out with Kaoru, and stay with him as long as he can. Kaoru is dealing with a tough point in his life he has to stay.
Later
Hikaru walked out of class, passing Kaga who gave him a smile. This caused a small ache in his heart. Then his phone started ringing. He pulled it out and saw Kaoru was calling him. Hikaru smiled, answering the call.

Hikaru: Hi Kaoru...

~Kaoru: Hi Hikaru.

Hikaru frowned when he heard Kaoru's tone. He sounded tired like he didn't want to call him. Then he realized it was probably because he hadn't called in a while.

Hikaru: O-oh, I'm sorry for not answering your calls for a while, I've just been busy...

~Kaoru: I didn't say you had to apologize Hikaru... I had a feeling you were busy...

Hikaru bit his lip, getting a bad feeling. Kaoru sounded like he was either tired, or bored of talking to him.

Hikaru: Kaoru, is everything alright?

Kaoru sighed.

~Kaoru: Actually Hikaru... this has been on my mind for several months but... I'm breaking up with you.

Hikaru felt like he blacked out for a second.

Hikaru: W-what do you mean break up...?

~Kaoru: I mean we're over... for real this time.

Hikaru: Why though...?!

~Kaoru: Hikaru I've been giving this thought for months, this is my final decision.

Hikaru shut his eyes in defeat. This is Kaoru's decision, not his. He can't just have Kaoru stay in a relationship he doesn't want.

Hikaru: Okay Kaoru. I understand.

~Kaoru: Wait, what?

Hikaru: This is your decision, I need to respect that, so I'll accept the breakup.

Hikaru didn't mention the burning sensation in his chest.

~Kaoru: Oh, well alright then...

Kaoru hung up a couple seconds later. Hikaru was unable to stop the hot tears from falling out of his eyes. He walked out to one of the building's balconies and rested his arms on the railing, crying softly to himself. Kaga walked by and saw Hikaru alone outside.

Kaga: Hikaru...?

Kaga walked out and stood next to Hikaru.

Kaga: Hikaru? What's wrong?
