Chapter 27

"Hey, Y/N," Oliver spoke up before she walked away with Barry. "Can I ask you for some advice?" he asked.

Y/N nodded as Barry walked back to the house towards Clark, Kara, and Louis. "Yeah, what do you want to know?"

"I am so used to being the Green Arrow that maybe I've become complacent, a little too comfortable being him," Oliver admitted. "When I put on that suit, I channel all the bad things I've had to live through, I take all that darkness and it fuels me to keep going...but when I try and do that now, it backfires," he explained.

Y/N nodded, "That's because you're not the Green Arrow anymore," she told Oliver. "Barry and I, we've dealt with a lot of loss and pain in our lives, but we never let the darkness win, however hard that may seem."

"I just don't know how you do it."

"When we run, we're always running towards something, or for something," Y/N explained. "You can't use the darkness to fuel your speed, it doesn't work that way. You have to find the light, the good, and focus on that when you're running."

Oliver furrowed his brows, "I'm not sure there is much light in me," he replied.

Y/N shook her head, "You're wrong. The Oliver I know, he's a hardass at times, but he's also caring, and sympathetic."

"I'm not so sure about that-"

"I'm right," Y/N interrupted. "And I think a part of you knows that I'm right. Running angry, like you just did when you fought with Barry, it never works out, it always backfires."

Oliver nodded, "How did you learn that?" he asked.

Y/N smirked, "The hard way," she answered before turning serious. "For example, after Thawne killed my family on Earth-Five, and then my team, I ran after him, I ran angry. I got my ass handed to me and an entire Earth suffered the consequences of my actions," she told him.

"And again, last year, when Barry and I asked you to help us take down Devoe, in the original timeline, Devoe killed Barry. You tried to talk me down but I ran away, and I ran angry after Devoe, and all it did was cause me more heartache and pain...that's how I know."

Oliver furrowed his brows, "But Barry didn't die, the building collapse didn't kill him."

Y/N nodded, "In the original timeline, Devoe stabbed Barry in the Cortex of S.T.A.R. Labs. He told me to reset the timeline, when I did, the building collapse happened. That's the funny thing about time, it always finds a way to make up for the things you change," she told Oliver.

"So don't mess with time, got it," Oliver noted.

Y/N smirked, "Just think good thoughts when you're running, you have all of Barry's power so just trust your instincts."

Oliver nodded, "You make that sound easy."

Y/N shrugged, "Maybe it is that easy," she teased. "Don't overthink this stuff. Though we should get back to our Earth, we still have to go to Gotham before the day is done," Y/N as she started walking towards the house, Oliver beside her.

Gotham City...

Barry, Kara, and Y/N all arrived in Gotham a few hours later. They all agreed to meet on a rooftop that overlooked the city. Night had set in, but still, the heroes could see that Gotham was dying city ever since Bruce Wayne left.

Y/N could tell that Barry was overly excited, she knew that he was quite the fan of Batman and had been wanting to see him in action.

The heroes were all suited up, though they were still waiting on Oliver before they began their search for John Deegan.
