Percy POV

Percy woke up alone, which wasn't the best situation after the dream that she had just had. If she was going to be honest it took quite a bit of willpower for her to not immediately assume the worst. She quickly found a note explaining where the boys had gone and relaxed immensely. She wasn't sure that she would be able to handle being all alone again. Percy was scared of herself, of what she could do, of what she would do if she let go of herself for too long.

"So, Lucas thinks there's something at the Carlton house," Dean's voice suddenly entered the room, startling Percy,

"Right, or-" Sam stopped talking "Hey Percy, you're up. How are you doing?"

"A lot better, the nap helped a lot," Percy replied. You had your time to think, now Sam needs someone again.

Dean nodded, "I find that a lot too."

"I'm glad your better now Perce," Sam smiled at his friend.

"So am I," Percy responded, "Now I just need some food, so if there's nothing that I'm needed for here, then I'm going to get some food."

Dean looked around, "I don't know that there's much that we'd really need you for."

Percy smiled. "Sweet! Then I will be back soon." Then she stood up and walked over to Dean. "I'm going to need the keys." Percy held out her hand.

"I am absolutely not letting you drive Baby," Dean said, sounding offended by the idea alone.

"Dude, it's not like I'm going to crash your car. I just want to get something to eat then come back."

"I don't care. Look, I get that everything sucks right now, but I don't let anyone drive Baby without me in it. And I haven't known you for long enough to even consider giving you the keys. "

"Whatever. I'll just walk then." Then Percy left the room.

As she stood outside the motel, trying to figure out which way to go, Percy briefly considered hotwiring the Impala, but decided against it. She didn't need Dean to have another excuse to distrust her. So instead she started walking, and it didn't take her long to find a decent looking place to eat.

~~~~~~~~~~~~A Time Break Because the Other Option is Boring Stuff~~~~~~~~~~~~
Percy was walking around the town, only sort of trying to get back to the motel, when an ambulance suddenly came roaring past her. Trusting her finely tuned demigod instincts, Percy went in the direction that it had gone, following what she could see/hear of the ambulance until it became obvious where it was going.
"The Carlton house," Percy whispered. "Hasn't that family been through enough?"
Percy slowed down and walked at a leisurely pace to the Carlton's house.
"I was out for a walk and I saw the ambulances here. What happened?" Percy asked one of the people crowded around the edge of the scene.
The person, a middle-aged woman wearing the uniform of a police officer looked at her. "We can't release those details to the public yet ma'am," she said, looking at Percy as if there was nothing she wanted to call her less than "ma'am". It was a look that Percy was used to.
"No, no," someone whom Percy didn't recognise came walking towards the pair. "Its fine. She was with the rangers who stopped by earlier." She held her hand out for Percy to shake. "Pleasure to meet you, I'm Officer Adler."
Percy gladly took his hand. "It truly is, you can just call me Percy for now. I've never been all that fond of formalities. Now, can you tell me what happened."
The officer smiled at her. "Of course Percy. Will Carlton just drowned in the sink. It's a horrible tragedy don't you think?"
Percy nodded. "It really is. I think I'll be on my way now, let you continue your investigation. Thank you." With that, Percy continued on her way, trying to ignore the feelings of worthlessness that came with the revelation.
As Percy was walking back to the motel, she was thinking about what this meant for their case. While before she still harboured the belief that a genuine, corporeal monster could be to blame for the attacks - the Mist was extremely powerful, especially in places where people were more closed to what it concealed- now it clearly wasn't that. Unfortunately, that meant that Percy was starting to swerve into unknown territory. A familiar place, but one that she had been hoping to avoid nonetheless.
From the limited reading that she had been able to accomplish, she had been able to figure out nothing as to what this could be. The best that the girl could figure, the naiad who lived in the lake was upset, though that didn't feel even slightly right.
Eventually, no closer to an answer than when she had started, Percy arrived back at the motel.
"Well, I think we can rule out the Ceata theory," Percy said as she swung open the door.
"PERCY!" Sam shouted rushing towards his friend. "I was getting worried."
"Sorry Sam," Percy said, "I got a bit distracted, which brings me to an important point actually."
"Where were you?" Sam asked.
"You'll see, right now I need to tell you the thing that I've been trying to say since I walked through the door," Percy said. "Namely, whatever we're dealing with is definitely not something corporeal in the lake."
"Ha! Told you," Sam shouted, turning towards his brother.
Dean ignored him, instead talking to Percy. "How do you know that?"
"While I was walking back an ambulance passed me, and I followed it all the way to the Carlton's house. Will Carlton is dead, he drowned. In the sink," Percy informed the brothers.
Dean nodded, "Alright. So whatever it is isn't confined to the lake,"
"Right," Sam said.
"But," Percy interjected "That's still its power source." She looked around her. "All of the water here comes from the lake, and a lot of it is filtered before being returned there. That's part of the reason that this whole dam thing is such a big deal."
Dean raised an eyebrow, "How did you know that?"
Percy panicked for a moment, as the real reason that she had known was her connection to the water. Not something that she really wanted to share. "While I was eating I asked about the dam situation a bit more, got some information, it's not a big deal. It just confirmed that whatever this is needs to hurry before the lake is gone."
Dean nodded, seeming to accept what her story, much to Percy's relief.
"Anyways," Percy said, "Did you guys have any ideas as to what this creature could be?"
"Nope," Dean said, "Water wraith? Something man, and if it can get through the pipes then it can kill just about anyone."
"Well, whatever this is, it has something to do with Bill Carlton," Sam said.
"Well obviously, it took both of his kids," Percy responded.
"And, I've been able to do some asking around. Lucas's dad- Chris- was Mr. Carlton's godson." Sam expanded.
"Well," Dean said, "Let's go pay Mr. Carlton a visit."
