I was brilliant, absolutely brilliant. I was the best criminal mastermind to ever live on Earth and I was proud of it more than anything I’ve ever accomplished during my short time living. I successfully managed to break Lynn, just through a mere note. If I would have known from the beginning that it would be that easy to break someone as ‘strong’ as her, I would have definitely done it earlier. It enthralled me and made the sickening smirk on my face widen each time I thought of how this was only just the beginning. There was still Holland Jefferson, there was still the huge revelation how I was responsible for the death of her idiotic brother, and I still had to get a little bit closer to her so she could trust me.
I found out through Bane a few hours after I dropped the bag of heads and several other mutilated limbs at Decint County that he managed to bail Holland out of jail for enough time until his trial, and that Lynn had a panic attack after reading the note. It was exciting news, and it allowed for my plan to escalate since I had a reason to speak to Lynn; she was in the hospital.
“Name?” I snapped out of my thoughts while my gaze landed on the woman in front of me. She had auburn hair and dark, wide eyes, high cheek bones and pouty lips.
“Lux Wesley,” I said politely, sending her a short smile instead of the smirk. “I’m here to visit Siara Dupont.”
The woman’s gaze flickered towards the screen, typing for a few seconds before returning back to mine. “She is not accepting any visitors at the moment.”
The grin transfixed into a small frown. I want to slam her head on the keyboard repeatedly for wasting my time. “I’m her cousin, you must allow me to see her.” I pleaded, biting my lip. Sometimes I despised this amnesic facade, most of the time I had to act like an innocent, naive teenager just entering adulthood and it required for me to act like a complete prude. Hence the wide, pleading eyes and the nervous lip biting. Though it would be much better to reveal who I truly was. At the rate I was going concerning Lynn, there was only a month―the latest two―that I would have to act like this until I would reveal myself to the world and I couldn’t wait.
The woman raised her eyebrows. “Tenth floor, east wing, room 64D.”
“Thank you so much,” My voice oozed with mock gratitude as I nodded and raced towards the elevators. I imagined what Lynn’s reaction would be when she found out that I was there. Honestly, I was surprised that she hadn’t begun suspecting me yet. The signs were obvious, if she didn’t see them then she wasn’t the infamous detective that everyone rumored about.
I exited the elevators and walked towards the east wing, following the numbers and letters placed on the wall until I found 64D. The lights were dim except for the bright one at the reception desk. There were low murmurs and the usual antiseptic smell hospitals usually gave off. Most of the rooms I passed were closed shut, while others were barely cracked open. When I finally reached 64D the door was completely shut and I heard low murmurs.
Without hesitation I opened the door, my eyes brushing over the surprisingly welcoming interior of the hospital room. Two maroon loveseats to the left, and a coffee table centered in between with a few magazines and papers scattered over the surface. Only one lone light illuminated the room, giving off a low dim and a unanimous vibe.
My gaze traveled to the other occupants in the room, an average sized man with slight days worth of stubble growing on his cheeks who was standing beside Lynn, who was staring at me with her annoyingly wide eyes. As much as I wanted to grin my ass off, the good-boy amnesic facade had to come into action better than ever since I had an audience that would most likely suspect me.
