Celeste lived a hard life.
She lived with an abusive mother who was so bad her father left. After her mom's overdose she was sent away into the foster care system, bouncing from one home to another. Things only got worst when she turned 18 and...
The next morning, Celeste woke up surprised to be laying in her bed. The last thing she remembered about the previous night was that she had fell asleep on one of the pool chairs. She threw off the extravagant blanket and got out of bed before going over to the bathroom to get ready for the day. It didn't take her long to get ready seeing as all she had to do was take a quick shower, brush her teeth and get dressed. Her hair wasn't really an issue because she would just spray it with water mixed with conditioner. She made her way down the stairs, but when she got to the bottom Lorenzo was heading towards the front doors.
"Where you going?" She asked.
"I have business to tend to, but I'll be back later tonight. Do not leave this house," he said. He grabbed his black trench coat before he left. As much as Celeste didn't want to disobey him seeing as how they relationship was improving, but she couldn't take spending on more day confined in that house. She knew that the only way she was getting out wasn't by walking out the front door. She'd have to seek out.
She looked out the window next to the doors and saw the two guards watching the front doors. She turned away for the doors and sprinted up to her room where she packed a backpack full of things she'd need fir the day such as hygiene utilities and spare clothing. She remembered seeing people in films using multiple blankets as a rope to climb out, so she tied all a ton of blankets together and tightly wrapped the last one to the bottom of her bed before she threw the line out the window. She slowly climbed out from the window with her backpack tightly secured on her shoulders before she went down. Throughout the whole process all she could think about was the fact that it looked way easier in movies than it was. When she got close to the ground the blanket couldn't hold itself any longer and it pulled itself off the he'd beg causing her to fall the rest of the way. She groaned on the ground from the pain in her back. She got up from the ground and crept towards the gate. She looked around for some sort of entry until she noticed something. There was a small hole in the fence, but large enough for Celeste to squeeze through it.
She jumped in joy once she got through, but stopped when she remembered she was still near the gate. She soon snuck off before walking by the side of the road until she came across a small town. It was a long walk, but she was glad to be out of the house. She found herself outside a random coffee shop she came upon. She walked into the cafe and did a 180 turn. She took in the scenery around her in awe. She's never been in a cafe because she couldn't afford as little as a cup of coffee. She didn't know what to order. So, she asked the cashier for a recommendation. When she got her drink, she walked around to find a table, but they were all occupied. She noticed a girl who sat at a one of the tables alone. So, she decided to see if she could share it. Celeste walked up to the girl with her cup of coffee in her hand. Celeste tapped her shoulder and when the girl looked up at her, she gave her a smile. The girl pulled out on of her earphones and placed her book down on the table.
"There's no free tables. So, is it cool if I sit with you?" Celeste asked. She nodded and gestured for Celeste to sit. Celeste took a seat across from the girl before the girl went back to her book. After a while of what felt like awkward silence to Celeste, she began a conversation with the red haired girl across from her.
"Good book?" Celeste asked.
"Yeah, I love Fitzgerald. I've read it before, but I wanted to read it again. Have you read it before?" she asked.
"No...I don't really read books," Celeste said. The girl closed the book and handed it to her. Celeste took the book confused, yet happy at the same time.
"You can have it. I've already read it and it's a really good book," She said.
