A Second Chance (Under Construction)

Chapter 14

It was a few days later where Lorenzo sat in the kitchen drinking an Americano extremely exhausted. He hadn't slept in days and he was beginning to feel the effects of it. His head was pounding as he was starting to have a terrible migraine and he struggled to keep his eyes open. He wanted nothing more than to lay in bed and sleep for years, but he had too many thing to do and his responsibilities always came first. The person who he considered his most important responsibility came down the stairs into the kitchen with a energetic, jumpy attitude. As happy as he was to see her, her loud laughs only made his migraine worst.  Celeste walked up to him cheerfully, but her smile faded away once she noticed the serious expression on his face.

"Oh shit, you have that look on your face.  What's wrong?" She asked.

"Somethings happened and I need you to stay here," Lorenzo said. He could see the disappointment on her face, but she didn't argue. She nodded and began to walk away when he caught her wrist and pulled her back to him. "But I am a man of my word. I'll have Silvio go into town and pick up your friends," Lorenzo said as he tried to smile, but was to tired to achieve it. He expected her to jump for joy, but instead she stared at him with a worrisome expression. "What," Lorenzo asked in concern. 

"Are you okay? You don't look good," she said. 

"I'm fine. I just haven't really slept," he said. 

"Then you should get some rest," she said.

"I wish I could, but I have meetings," he said. 

"So what. Isn't it better to go into these meetings at your fullest rather than being half awake. You could risk making a deal that you don't agree with, but because you're so tired you wouldn't realize," she explained. 

"True, but.." he began but she cut him off. 

"But nothing," she said before grabbing both his hands and pulled him up off the chair before guiding him through the living room, past the entrance, up the stairs and into his room. She let go of his hands and laid him down on the bed. Before she could put the bed sheets over him, he pulled her down into the bed and placed his arm over her as he pulled her close to him. 

"Lorenzo.." she began to whisper until he interrupted her. 

"Just lay with me. Until I fall asleep," he whisper with his eyes closed. She didn't protest any further and agreed to stay with him until he feel asleep. Before he did, he pulled out his phone and texted Silvio to reschedule his meetings till further notice. He put his phone on the nightstand before he wrapped his arms back around Celeste and fell into a deep sleep.

Soon after receiving Lorenzo's message, Silvio made calls to everyone and rescheduled all of his meetings for the next week. Although not her biggest fan, he was grateful that Celeste was forcing his friend to start taking care of himself. Despite how it may seem, Lorenzo and Silvio share a close bond. They've been best friends for years and care deeply for one another, even though they don't always show it. Silvio may have a tough exterior, but he cares for the people around him. 

Silvio sat parked in his car as he waited for Trinity to leave the book store. Although Lorenzo told Silvio to reschedule his meeting, he told him to continue with the task of finding more information on Trinity and Hye-Jin. He pears out the window when he saw a familiar red haired girl. He kept his eyes on her as he slowly followed behind her as she pulled out the book she purchased. He stopped at a distance and pulled out his binoculars to see which book she bought. He was surprised to see that her new book was I'm afraid of men. He remembered Lorenzo describing her as tough, so it was surprising to him that she was reading a book on how to deal with a fear of men. He wondered if she had daddy issues or had an abusive boyfriend, non of which were true.

Silvio decided to follow her on foot rather than in the car because he thought the car would be noticeable. He left the car and followed her around the corner, but quickly turned back when she stopped and turned. She had a feeling she was being followed, but she didn't let it stop her from enjoying her day. She also knew that if she was being followed, she couldn't make it noticeable that she know. She continued stroll down the paved sidewalk, but reminded herself to stay cautious. Silvio looked from around the corner before continuing to follow behind her. He ducked down by a car when Trinity stopped again, but didn't continue. She stood by a cafe and waited for a little bit.

"What the fuck is she waiting for?" Silvio asked himself as he stayed crouched down and hidden. He watched as Trinity turned and called out to someone in the opposite direction of him. Hye-Jin turned when she heard Trinity call out to her, but Silvio was stunned when he saw her. He stared in awe at the beautiful girl with pale skin and raven pin straight hair standing by the side of the street.

To him, he had never seen anyone so beautiful in his life. Her eyes were small yet sharp and they sat on puffy clouds. Her lips were round with a slight bump under her upper lip. Silvio had to continuously remind himself that he had to to focus on his work, but he couldn't. All he would focus on was her. Her hair, face, slender long body in those skinny blue jeans and chiffon blouse as she ran across the street over to Trinity. Once Hye-Jin reaches her, she linked arms with Trinity and pulled her into the cafe. Silvio shook his head and cursed himself for not focusing on the job and allowing himself to get so easier distracted. He left from behind the car and jogged over to the cafe before stepping in. Unfortunately as soin as he opened the door, Hye-Jin and Trinity were standing right in front of him with their arms crossed as they glared at him.

"Why are you following me?" Trinity asked.

"I don't know what you're talking about," he said before he tried to walk past them, but they blocked his way.

"I saw you from around the corner and you've been following me for blocks," Trinity argued.

"Are you going to move, or do I have to move you?" He asked.

"Excuse me?" Trinity said offended as she took a step towards him, but Hye-Jin pulled her back.

"Look, you don't have to be rude. We just want to know what going on," Hye-Jin said. He didn't turn to Hye-Jin because he needed to keep a tough exterior and he wasn't sure if he'd be able to hold it with her in his view. He sucked his teeth before turning around and walking out of the cafe. Trinity and Hye-Jin turned to each other before Trinity followed him. Hye-Jin shook her head and followed quickly behind her. 

"Hey! Hey!!!!" Trinity called but Silvio continued walking. "Is is because of Celeste!!" She yelled which made Silvio immediately stop.   He turned around and grabbed both Trinity and Hye-Jin by the arm before dragging them to his car. He ignored their protest and threw them into the backseat of their car. He got into the front seat and grabbed two cloths laced with a chemical liquid from a bag. He needed to make sure that they didn't know where Lorenzo's home was, so he took the clothes and placed them over both their mouths. Hye-Jin passed out, but Trinity continued to fight. She kicked his hand away and got out for a quick second, but Silvio got out of the car and grabbed her before he pulled her behind the car and hitting her in the head, knocking her out. He pushed her back into the backseat of the car and drove back to Lorenzo's home. On the way back home, Silvio would look back at Hye-Jin once in a while. He felt bad for what he did, but reminded himself that he would've done the same if it was anyone else and that it was just business. For the first time in his life, he's worried someone will distract him from his priorities. He hoped that he'd be able to ignore her and focus on his work. Unfortunately for him, that plan would not work out well.
