"Run Arthur," Merlin yelled to the prince as the swarming army approach. It wouldn't be long before they were completely surrounded. "I'll buy you some time to escape," Merlin said as he tried to shove the stubborn blonde into action.
"No," Arthur yelled back, "I won't leave you, Merlin!"
Suddenly the mass of soldiers parted and Morgana, herself, strutted through the parted sea of men.
"Well well well," She smirked, looking at the sight of Merlin and Arthur standing back to back looking exhausted and utterly trapped. "How the mighty have fallen."
"You don't have to do this Morgana," Arthur tried to reason but he knew in his heart that the sister he once had was long gone.
"No," Morgana agreed with a mock pout, "But it's great fun." She then threw her head back and cackled in delight.
Arthur let out a cry before charging the high priestess with his sword raised high.
Morgana quickly maneuvered away before casting an enchantment that sent him hurtling towards the wall at neck breaking speeds. Arthur hit the opposing wall with a sickening crunch, his sword clattering to the ground only a few feet in front of him.
"No!" Merlin shouted as he tried to rush to Arthur's aid. Morgana quickly flicked her head, her eyes flashing gold as Merlin froze in place. She then dismissed her men with another wave of her hand and the three were alone.
"Oh Emrys," Morgana cooed, "How I've longed for this day. To have you at my mercy."
"This war isn't over yet Morgana," Merlin spat out as he struggled to move but failing.
"Oh," Morgana said with a smile that one would direct at an ignorant child, "Isn't it?"
"It will bring me great pleasure to see you die," Morgana said raising her hands to strike him.
"No," Arthur croaked out feebly from his position on the ground. He tried to sit up but only managed to roll onto his side and cough up blood.
"Oh my dear brother, if only you knew the things this man has done you would not be so quick to defend him," Morgana smiled cruelly as a plan began to formulate in her twisted mind. "In fact, why don't we enlighten you? I can't think of a better way to add to your misery than to reveal his greatest betrayal."
"That way," Morgana said, stalking up to Merlin and gripping his chin, "You will get to see the burning hatred in Arthur's eyes before I carve out your heart."
She howled with laughter as Merlin's eyes grew horrified at the realization of what she meant.
"No no no," Merlin began to plea frantically, "Please god no! You- you can't! Don't do this, I beg you! Kill me if you want but you can't make me do this, make me watch him-" Merlin choked out a sob preventing him from finishing.
"Oh but I can do this," Morgana replied, a wicked gleam in her eye, "And you know what? I think I will."
"Tell- tell me what," Arthur asked. He seemed to be slowly regaining his bearings but not quick enough for him to pose a threat anytime soon. It looked as though the impact with the wall had left him very shaken and maybe even left him with a crushed rib at the very least.
