"Morning, Sul,"I greeted my seatmate

"Morning, Sul,"
I greeted
my seatmate.

"Morning,"
Sul was tying her
straight blue hair
into a high ponytail
while she spoke.

I sat down
and noted the
exhausted expression
on my friend's face.

"It's rare you're
sleep-deprived,"
I pointed out.

Sul let out a sigh,
picking up her phone
and clearing those
nasty notifications
that were piling up.

"I lot of things
are going on, unfortunately,"
she whined,
"my mom apparently
woke up and decided
she didn't feel
up to making me breakfast."

I laughed
heartily at that.

"Wasn't it just
something you did?"
a harmless suggested,
"there's no way
your mom, of all people,
would skip out on
your breakfast."

"Thats the thing!"
Sul groaned, "I really
didn't do anything!
It's like her willpower just
got sucked out of her!"

"Well, maybe
she just needed
a break," I offered.

"She's a nutritionist,
and she hates breaks,"
Sul groaned.

We laughed
to the rather
bitter joke,
and unanimously
decided to push
this mystery to
the back of our minds.

It's like her willpower
just got sucked out of her!

Maybe she just
needed a break.

Somehow,
my mind drifted
to the grave news
from this morning.

Biimi, a girl
that strived for improvements
in every and any thing
with vigor,

Maybe that girl
just woke up today
and felt that
she just didn't
want to try anymore,
too.

Oh, I realized,
feeling around her pockets
in a hasty fumble,

I left my phone at home.
