"What's
with you?"

My younger brother
pointed at me with
his chopsticks,
an eyebrow raised.

I scoffed,

"don't point, that's rude."

Not answering the question,
I continued eating somberly.

He faked hurt,

"If it tastes bad,

don't eat it,"

he muttered.

"It's not bad,"
quickly assuring him,
I slurped another mouthful
of noodles.

"I'm just thinking."

"Really?"
he seemed to
brighten up a little.

"Then, take this too."

He opened the fridge,
and took out a cup
of custard pudding.

"You're really
going all out, huh,"

I teased.

How could I reject
this sweet offer?

"I expect a
fully typed review
on my desk by evening,"

he chanted his best
teacher-impression.

That made me giggle.

"With you around,
I'm set for all
my future food needs!"

I cheered.

"Nuh-uh, female!"
he growled,
"I'm gonna be a chef,
but not your personal one."

"Stingy," I whined.

He scoffed right back,
"well then,
I'm going to school."

Picking up his bag,
I watched my brother
leave the house.

I smiled,
grateful,

to have such an endearing
younger brother
to brighten up my morning.
