I hushed the children who were
playing in the hospital hallways.
Subtly my phone vibrated in my pocket
telling me my health bar was running low.
But I ignored it in favour
of the children.
They made faces at me and
rolled their eyes,
then ran off to continue
their noisy game.
I closed my fist around my shirt,
and tried not to lose my temper.
I'm going to lose another life.
I'm going to--
"Guys, she's giving us a really scary look,"
one of them said, not so quietly.
"Yuck, let's go somewhere else, then."
And then I saw Leon,
Uncle Noel's little boy,
in the crowd.
"Let's go play outside, then."
He's smiling,
but not as brightly.
When they left,
I had a quarter of my HP left.
So I used a Potion,
and breathed a sigh of relief.
I never was one to enforce
a lot of rules on others.
This really wasn't
a job suited for me.

I flinched and quickly,
