Blind Forever

Faint gun shots, screams and doors slamming echoed in the red paladin's ears.

His hands balled up into fists, as he lay on the metal ground. His heart, racing. His breath, uneven and shaking.

Keith just about managed to lift his head a little. Although he couldn't see much due to his blurry vision, he just about caught a glimpse of the situation.
Lance.

Lance was shielding him from the on coming gas bombs and bullets.
Shiro was acting as offence, along with Pidge and Hunk: killing off the charging soldiers.

Keith seen Lance and Shiro yelling at each other, and occasionally looking at Keith.

Unfortunately for Keith, he couldn't make out what either of them were saying.

Tears rolled down Lance's cheeks, once smiled slightly seeing Keith's eyes open.

So, he moved closer, lifting Keith up and bringing him to his chest, as he sat down from kneeling on the ground.

Keith's hearing kicked in again, but his eyelids grew heavy.

"Ke-ith... K- keith stay with me okay, everything- everything is gonna be alright..."

Was the only thing he heard Lance say, before he completely blacked out...

Keith gasped, clutching onto something, well someone. He couldn't open his eyes or lift his left leg, but he could still talk and hear. "What's happening?! Why can't I see?! Who are you?!"

"Hey, hey. Keith it's me, you're alright."
Lance. It was Lance, he was safe.

"Lance, w-why can't I see or feel one of my legs?" Keith fell more into the other boys chest, and wrapping his hands around his torso. He had worked out his surroundings, the two were sitting on the floor in the pod room.

As both of them were wearing the pod suits.

Lance kissed his forehead, "You've got bandages on, you'll still be able to see after. So don't worry about it so much...
Okay?" His hand rubbed Keith's back, up and down.."You're leg's paralyzed, and your eyes had to be cleaned with fresh water because too much blood had got in them. Coran said to keep them closed..."

Lance fell silent, which got Keith worried. "Lance?" He asked cautiously, his head resting on the others shoulder.

"Yeah?"

"Did Coran say how long I'd have to keep these on for?" Keith gritted his teeth together and gestured towards his face and leg.

"I don't know... I... I don't know, baby..." Lance hitched his breath, but gave in and started to sob. He shook his head and held Keith closer, face buried in his neck. "I'm sorry, Keith... I'm so sorry..."

Although Keith couldn't open his eyes, tears still managed to run down his face and onto Lance's shirt.

After  a week or two, Coran had found out how long Keith still had to keep the bandage on for.

He told Lance the tragic news, as he was scared for the red paladin's future...

Coran told him, "Keith, he... He's gonna be blind after we take off the blindfold..."
