Chapter Twelve

Steve's POV

"Secure the area. Clint, i'll take it from here." I yelled scooping an unconscious Ellesmere into my arms. Her blood stained my blue T-shirt. She was losing so much blood really fast.

The room had gotten into a frenzy when she did the electrical thing with her leg and jumped right in front of Thor. The explosion damaged a small part of the Tower but a large part of her body.

A bunch of drone like ships came into the Tower as well. Widow and Hill shot them down. "Somebody contact Helen Cho!" Tony said.

"Vision, come help me out!" I said. Natasha called Dr Cho while Peter, Thor and Banner helped the guests out of the building.

Vision took her to Banner's lab while i hurriedly cleared up a table so she could be laid. He did a quick scan of her internal organs.

"The force of the explosion was enough to kill her at the spot but i think some kind of electromagnetic spectrum drowned it in a cocoon of energy. Her blood level has dropped alarmingly. We need to stabilize her and stop the bleeding." Vision explained.

In another minute, Dr Cho arrived. Good thing she was in New York then. She cleaned up the wounds, gave her oxygen and did some necessary checkups and MRI then ran some blood tests. We left her in the room with Dr Banner while we remained in the living room trying to put to sense what had happened .

Peter, Wanda, Sam and Thor checked the perimeter to make sure there wouldn't be any more surprise attacks.

"I contacted Director Fury." Barton announced walking into the room, "He said we have to be careful. The same attack had been made two days ago in Salem. The city is in ruins as we speak."

"Whatever this is, whoever these attackers are, she knows about it. She just moved in today and now look. Who knows what might happen next?" Wanda said distastefully .

"You're right. She did mention that a force was coming. But what if she knows nothing about it too?" I said feeling sorry for her. I knew she was in so much pain.

"One minute, he's the toughest guy around, the next, Jelly." Tony said and received a dark look from me. "If looks could kill... Anyways, she knew that attack was coming then that means she was a part of it."

"But you all saw how she risked her life to save Thor's. If she was on the other side then she would've let Thor take the hit." Peter suggested. He did make sense.

"That could be a part of her plan to get us to trust her." Wanda protested.

"Even if it means getting herself killed?" Peter asked.

"You don't know what she can do to get what she wants, no one does. " Wanda said again.

"She didn't even know there was going to be an attack. I noticed the bomb first but i wasn't quite sure." Peter said.

"For now, we don't know anything about what side she's on. But sides or not, this force is already here and we have no clue what this attack was all about and who they are. " I said.

"But she does." Wanda said again stressing each word for emphasis.

"How can you be so sure? Is it because you hate her?" Peter asked.

"Are you taking her side now because you like her?" Wanda asked.

"I'm not taking her side. I'm just saying you're being overdramatic." Peter said.

"Can you guys stop your hormonally imbalanced argument now? I need to hear myself breathe!" Tony said looking mockingly at them.

"She's an enemy and there's nothing you can do to change that!" Wanda said again.

"Why? Did you happen to take a sneak peek into the next episode of her future with your powers?" Peter asked crossing his arms and Wanda used her powers to push him across the room.

"Alright, that's enough you two!" Sam said as he and Tony stepped in to caution Wanda while Barton and Natasha helped Peter up.

"Whoever she is and whatever she's done, no one knows but this single act of selflessness shows the girl bears no ill will against anyone." Thor said in the silence and everyone turned to look at him. We didn't even know he was there.

Banner walked into the room with a poker face.

"What is it, Bruce?" Widow asked.

"She's awake!" he said calmly.
