Steve's POV
"It was 9pm on a Saturday evening in the heart of Camelot, the cool breeze blew, the town busied with affairs of the night when suddenly, a creature of fire and water emerged from the ground. The women screamed, the men grabbed their weapons ready to fight off the creature when all of a sudden, the beast said 'Do any of you know the quickest way to get to a Starbucks around here? '" Clint narrated making everyone roll over in laughter.
"Jesus Christ, Clint! That is not how the story goes! "I said still choking from laughing so hard.
"That's exactly how the story went! "Clint defended nodding his head in approval as he watched us laugh hysterically. A soothing music played in the background as drinks went round making the atmosphere merrier.
"You are a terrible narrator. The worst in New York! "Stark said swiping through his phone screen.
"I'm doing a little remix of the whole long live King Arthur Pendragon thing! "He said laughing a little.
"Really? A Starbucks in the 6th Century?"Elles asked. I watched her intently. A week had rolled by after our fight in the Great Falls and she was practically glued to Thor. I had had strong suspicions ever since the day I saw her crying next to his bed.
I'd decided to pay Thor a visit that evening. I walked towards the lab when tiny sobs filled my ears, I stood well hidden away from view at the corner of the lab and watched in surprise at the scene that played before me.
"If I'd stayed away, none of this would've happened at all. I'm so sorry! "She sobbed clutching Thor's hand in hers bringing it up to her chin as she stared at his unconscious form. Tears rolled down her face freely. I'd never seen Ellesmere cry before but she looked truly sad. She constantly wiped off the tears with her sleeves and clutched Thor's hand tighter. He had an oxygen mask around his face and several stitches on his bare body, there was a large IV next to him sending energy fluids into his body through a tiny injection in his left hand.
"I promise that when you get better. I'll do all I can to keep you safe. . .even if it means going far away! I'll do it, just to keep you safe!" she said sniffing lightly.
Her words kept me thinking. Widow said something was going on for a long time ever since she was compromised, even before then, she had always acted strange around Thor. I wondered if anyone else noticed but I didn't want to bring it up without any proof.
The town seemed a lot quieter after the Orb was taken. It was as if Tigrahn himself had vanished into thin air, there were no sightings or attacks of any kind. But we knew better than to let down our guard, he was up to something and he needed time to do it.
Jane was hospitalized in Austin, she was unconscious for five days while Thor was just unconscious for a few hours, Thor had knocked the living daylight out of her but it wasn't in his right mind and he had a lot of apologizing to do. I still marvelled at some funny things that happened during the fight, like how Elles was able to make a hurricane and how, according to Peter, she was able to free the Orb.
Things were taking the right turns and I for one, didn't want anything to spoil the few happy moments we had. Elles said Tigrahn was going to destroy the world for reasons no one knew about but even though we weren't going to let that happen, we still had to live our lives to the fullest.
I looked at the pair. Elles and Thor were best friends ,no doubt, but there was something else there. I couldn't put my finger on it yet, the way Elles defended him even in harmless conversations and the way she stuck around him like a hen guarding her young chicks. This time, they didn't wear any matching outfits but they held their hair in the same style.
