Author's POV

The sun shone directly on the lake at the far end of a vast grassy field. A house stood majestically in the middle of the vast land. It wasn't too big or too small. It had a large barn at its left and on its right, another small shelter containing white comfy chairs and a table with short canopies above it forming a roof.

Two people battled each other near the lake with thin, long but firm logs. The female wore a blue oversized strapped vest. with spaces under her arms revealing a black tube top inside with black dungarees and trainers. A black material was twisted around each arm down to her wrists with her blonde hair held up in a messy ponytail.

The male wore a black sleeved shirt and blue jeans with trainers. His blonde hair was also held up with a black rubber band.

Each one tried to counter the others attack with their logs as they parried and thrust.

"You're getting weak, Old Man! " Elles said with a mocking laugh as she balanced her left leg on the grassy area.

"Haha, I'm just giving you a chance, that's all." Thor replied swinging his log.

He struck his log towards her as she blocked the hit then landed a fierce kick on his abdomen making him jerk backwards.

"Told you you're getting slow. You're lucky this is a no-powers training." She said throwing the log on the ground trying to catch her breath. Even if she didn't admit it out loud, Thor was a hundred times stronger and faster than she was. He was probably letting her hold her own.

"You're giving up just yet? " Thor asked placing a hand on his hip.

"No, i'm just uh, resolving to using fists instead." Elles replied then immediately realized the nonsense she just said. Fists? He's gonna break yours with less effort. A voice said in her head making her regret what she had suggested but it was too late because Thor had already thrown his log away with both fists in front of him.

"Can I just get another second? I gotta enjoy my last day on earth." She said making Thor break into a laugh.

She took her chance. Charging forward, she punched him in the chest but he barely staggered. He took one of her arm and one of her leg then lifted her above his head as she screamed. He twirled around making her scream and laugh at the same time. Soon, they both lost balance and fell head on into the lake.

"Well, the training took a surprising turn." Steve commented from behind them. They splattered in the water, laughing at each other.

Steve and Nat stood a few inches away from the lake smiling at them as Elles chased Thor around throwing tiny bits of stone at him as he struggled to run faster in the abdomen length lake.

It had been seven months since Elles was fully recovered from the "compromise". Sometimes, it made her lose her memory totally. But ever since she had been staying at the country side in London, things had turned out for the better.

The Avengers often came in threes or fours to visit her. A month ago, it had been Peter, Bruce, Thor and Tony, the first two months were Vision, Clint and Wanda(who was probably talked into coming). Even Fury had paid her a visit once accompanied by Maria Hill. Jane had found the place for her. It was quiet and very comforting. A place worthy for a rehab.

The game had changed for the aliens. They had gone totally into hiding or so they thought. But everyone knew they wouldn't just disappear into thin air. A new army was rising slowly. S.H.I.E.L.D had lost a lot of soldiers in a space of three months.

Fury said they were "converting" men into their so-called army. They worked tirelessly creating their own army.

Meanwhile, the Avengers took their time to get along and trust each other except Wanda who still thought Ellesmere was an enemy. Over the past months, they'd come to trust Elles and accept her fully as one of them.
