Chapter Thirteen

Ellesmere's POV

I could hear voices -male voices, female and computer voices. My eyes opened slowly even though i didn't want it to. There was a warm light above me. At first, it stung but eventually i got used to it.

I remembered only a little - a loud explosion. My head was still fizzy and light.

"She's not fully stable but i've been able to stop the bleeding and some kind of thermo electrical radiation in her system. It's helping her heal but very slowly." A female said from beside me. I tried to turn but my neck felt like lead, stiff as a statue.

"Welcome back!" The female said again. I drifted my eyes a bit and saw a lady. She was tall and wore a white sleeved gown. She looked Korean with black hair and slanting eyes. Next to her stood Bruce, Steve and. . . . . My heart beat quickened - Thor!!.

"How are you feeling?" He asked walking towards me. He still wore the black coat with a black shirt.  I hadn't seen him in three years and he looked a lot elderlu than the last time.

"I don't think she'll be able to speak yet." Dr Banner said.

"I'm okay!" I whispered but loud enough for everyone to hear. He gave me a small smile but i didn't know if i should smile back.

"I should thank you. For saving my life." he said again, his voice gruff and deep.

"You're welcome." I whispered again but this time, so only he could hear. "You didn't get hurt, did you?" . He looked rather surprised at my question but shook his head, turned around and walked towards Steve.

I was in the camp of my said enemies and here i was, lying on a sickbed looking weak and dependent in front of them. The real enemy was out there and k had to do something fast. They'd made their first attempt to harm him and k knew they wouldn't stop. But how would i fight for him if i was injured and weak?.

"Can you lift your arm?" The lady asked coming to stand beside me. I shook my head slowly. Everything hurt.

"Helen? " Steve called and the lady turned ,"I need to speak with her" He said calmly.

He had changed out of the blue T-shirt i remembered he was wearing to a dark brown one. Helen nodded affirmatively then exited the room with Dr Banner following closely behind her but Thor stayed.

After a minute of silence, Steve finally spoke. "Did you know about this?."He asked walking towards my bed.

"No!" I said trying to make my voice sound stronger than i felt.

"You told us that a force was coming. How did you know that?"

I blinked trying to recall when i'd said such. Then I remembered it was at S.H.I.E.L.D's base where i was held.

"I'd already fought them in Salem. They destroyed the city" My voice was weak and sounded like a croak. With each word, i felt my lungs burning and my wounds reopening . I shut my eyes trying to forget about the pain. If mum knew about this, she'd go all "crazy-angry" at me.

"Captain, i think you need to let her be. She's in pain and needs to recover. " Thor said making me open my eyes.

Steve appeared to be lost in thoughts "Who are they?"
I swallowed hard, my throat itched from thirst and the burn in my lungs increased as well. "Aliens. They're aliens!"

"Do you know why they came? What they're after?" This time, Thor asked.

You!!  I wanted to say but i held back. It wouldn't make any sense at all since i had no idea why they wanted him.

"No, no I don't." I lied. I couldn't say it even though Thor's piercing eyes made me want to.

I have to keep you safe for now, Dad. It's for  the best. I can't let anything happen to you. I won't. I said within myself.
