Chapter Thirty One

Steve's POV

"How many hours until we get there? "I asked following Maria Hill as we walked into the control room. She said there had been a sighting again at a mountain side in Billings but this time, they detected massive heat signatures which meant a lot of people.

Tony, Wanda, Vision and Fury stood around the huge table looking at a holographic screen in the control room. It was the hologram of a mountain with red dots beeping in several places at the same time.

All heads turned briefly as we walked into the room.
"Look at this! "Fury said beckoning to me with one of his hands stretched toward the image. "Is this their camp? "I asked staring intensely at the hologram.
"I never thought for one minute that aliens would outsmart humans! "He said tucking both hands behind him.

"What are you talking about?"Tony asked removing his hand from under his chin. He seemed to have been in thought.
"They've been here all along waiting for the perfect moment."

"Stop talking in riddles and tell us what's happening! "I said. I sensed something was very wrong here and Fury looked as if he was going to burst into flames any minute.

"This. . ." He started pointing at the screen, "Is the hiding place of the Orb and also obviously the base of operations of those aliens. They've been hiding, waiting for the time when someone who knew their way around would get the Orb out. And I suppose, Widow and Barton had gone there with Storm to get it! "

"Oh, she goes by Current now. It's way cooler cause I made it up. Everything I do is!"Tony said but his face immediately twisted into a frown. "She's in danger now, how do we get them out of there? "

I could feel my chest tighten, I stared at the red dots on the screen, there were probably a million aliens plus compromised SHIELD soldiers surrounding them. Just then, Parker's voice came through Comms.

"Parker, what updates? "I asked while everyone's gaze heavily settled on me.
"We're surrounded. Elles and I have got the Orb, we're underground. But Barton, Widow and Banner are probably held captive above. We need backup. We'll stay here until you guys come or try to find a backdoor out of this cave. "

"We're coming in. Stay Put and keep the Orb safe okay? "I said. "Let's move out. Nick, we'll need soldiers too."

Fury arranged for a troop of soldiers to go with us. In a flash, we were stocked and locked in a jet with many others as we flew out headed for Montana.
