It was pretty obvious that Erin didn't particularly want her coming, but since Safiya wanted her to go, she was going. She told her parents about it a few days later, after much hesitation. They asked her how well she knew this girl and if they could speak to her parents and blah blah blah. Ultimately, they said yes.
"I'm in a corner too small to be good for hiding," she mumbled to herself. "...What did I just say?" Sierra lay down on her bed, staring at the ceiling. She zoned out, running away to her imagination where Erin invited her with a smile, because she wanted to.
She smushed her face into her pale pink pillow. What did I do to you? She thought to herself, whatever it is, please forgive me.
A few minutes later, she moved to sit at her desk. Sierra pulled out a sheet of loose leaf and doodled a flower with lose, incomplete lines. She shaded parts of it with blue highlighter. "God damn." She angrily threw the highlighter, which bounced off the wall and landed on her bed.
Sierra sighed and grabbed the highlighter. She uncapped it and hovered over her skin. She'd been about to write I'm sorry. What exactly was she sorry for? Sighing again, she recapped the neon marker and dropped her head on the desk. "Ugh."
