*Leon's POV*

That giant dirt explosion had apparently not been a dirt explosion after all. A giant white maggot was wriggling in the place of all the dirt. Everything seemed to stand still as it's tongues flicked the air.

"Leon. We need to move!"

Helena snapped me back into reality. I remembered how we fought the giant shell- covered fly. Too bad we didn't have a tower pole. This one would be a straight up bullet or knife battle.

Helena raised her pistol. Bullets sprayed the creature, but they did no good. They bounced off of what looked like a soft, slimy mass into the clay buildings all around.

One thing was for certain. This thing wasn't soft. "I'm gonna take a look at the other side of this thing. There's gotta be a weak point somewhere!"

She nodded her agreement and kept shooting the creature. It might not have been doing much damage. It kept it distracted though.

I ran out into the street only to stop dead in my tracks. Just a little down the road, to the right, were to heavily armed, green- uniformed men.

The BSAA symbols immediately told who these men were. I had fought one in defense of Ada. His partner had been killed in the rescue mission that saved the world.

"Chris!"

Chris saw me and ran to me. "We need to think up a plan. Or get the hell out of here!", he yelled.

"I get that. I just don't see how we're going to. You didn't see that thing come out of the ground. We did."

The boy he had with him looked scared. It reminded me of the Raccoon City incident. It was my first day on the job, too. I knew where he was coming from.

"Have you found the weak point yet?"

"No. I'm guessing the only weak point is the tongues." They usually were. There was no way in hell we would hit them as well as we needed to from the ground.

I looked at Chris's rookie. He had a sniper on his back. "Chris. Can you stay down here with Helena? I can't go by myself."

"Won't you be going by....Oh. Oh. O'Connor. Go with Leon."

The kid went even paler. That shouldn't have been possible. "Gotta get experience some way. They'll be the ones in the most danger anyway. Come on."

*Sherry's POV*

The chopper decided to land closer to the city than what was planned. We needed to get in there. Now.

Landon jumped down from the helicopter before it even touched the ground. That would be the way Jake woulda done it too. Although, if he saw Landon do it, he would have bitten his head off for being so stupid.

Once the chopper was completely settled on the ground, I jumped out myself. Sometimes I hated being so short. It came in handy though. Just like the mutations I carried in my genes because of my father's idiocy.

Landon was far ahead of me. The last I saw of him just as my feet touched the ground was his black gear rounding the corner. Boys never really had a filter between their thoughts and their actions. They all seemed to have a death wish.

What felt like two hours later, I was in the area I had seen Landon disappear to.

"Landon? Where are you?"

No answer. He was gonna get it if he tried sneaking up on me. I hated being scared.

I walked deeper into town. There were blood stains everywhere, along with huge paw prints and acid pools. Whoever these terrorists were, they had taken some animals we might even have as pets and made them into monsters.
