*Landon's POV*

Wind whipped through my hair and over my body as I fell. Acid was burning through the thin material covering my arm,  scorching my skin. My teeth ground together.

I always found myself in these situations. Falling from something or other. Yay me.

About halfway through my fall, an explosion erupted out of the worm. Everything went black. Not like me knocked out black, but black with smoke. I couldn't see anything.

Finally I hit the ground with a thud. This time everything really did go black. Only for a split second though.

*Sherry's POV*

We ran down the stairs. Leon was in front, I was in the middle, and the BSAA guy was last. All that was going through my mind was how in the hell Landon would be alive. I didn't think anyone could survive that kind of fall.

When we made it to the door, Leon turned around. "Sherry...I don't know how well you knew this guy...I'm sorry."

He pushed the door open. The look on his face was one of pure disbelief. I stepped forward, working my way around Leon. As much as I love him, he sure does freeze in doorways a good bit.

Chris was standing next to Helena with his gun raised. That was Chris for you. Always on gaurd. Helena was still next to Landon, but he wasn't knocked out anymore.

He was sitting straight up. His hand was rubbing the side of his head.

"What the hell?"

Landon looked up. "Hey princess. Bet you didn't expect that skill."

Leon stepped forward then. "How did you survive that fall?"

Landon laughed. "Do you even realize how many times I've been thrown off of things? Maybe dropped by some creature or another? Mind your own business pretty boy."

Everyone stiffened. Leon didn't even move. Just kept staring at him. If it had been Chris...

"Sherry. We need to talk."

I followed Leon back into the building. "Sherry. I don't trust this guy. I don't think you should either. Nobody survives a fall like that. Not unless they're a really strong B.O.W. For all you know, he could be a spy."

I bit my lip. Okay, so Leon had a point. It wouldn't be the first time I would have been betrayed by someone I trusted. My father took care of that one. He even turned me into a new kind of monster. I'm just glad I still have my free will.

"I don't know. Leon, I wanted to thank you."

The warm light that always came into his eyes when we talked came back then. He was my big brother. Could even be a father figure. "Sherry...."

"No, Leon. Listen. If it hadn't been for you and Claire....I don't know what or where I would be now. Who knows what I would have turned into?"

I wrapped my arms around him. He rested one hand around my back and the other on the back of my head. "It was my job, Sherry. I'm just glad we found you in time. You saved the world. If it hadn't been for you, Jake Muller never would have helped. If we hadn't found you..."

My heart skipped a beat at the mention of Jake. Why does that keep happening?

"Still, thank you Leon."

Somebody behind us cleared their throat. "Um. This is all very touching. However, we need to get out of here. We have a job to do."

"Excuse me?"

Anger flashed in Leon's eyes. "You can mind your own business kid."

Landon was standing in the doorway, twirling his pistol on his finger. "Oh come on pretty boy. You know you don't think of her as a sister. Too bad she's too caught up on that dick head, Jake."
