Five years later

Ally's POV

I wait anxiously from my upstairs window, Louis was released yesterday and the first person he called was me. He said he needed to see me and I ended up giving him my address in hopes he has something about Niall to tell me. I haven't been able to see Niall once so throughout the last five years so I've been driving to Californa every month or every two months lately and taking an hour to talk to Louis. I'm not allowed to give anything to Louis for Niall so he's been doing his best to remember what both Niall and I say. It's a complicated way of conversation but it's what has been working for us. Now though, there's no more talking to Niall in any way.

The state I moved to is Utah. The choice was random but I figured that it's close enough that I can go for my monthly visits to California to see Louis but far enough away that everyone won't be able to find me.

It was hard to come here at first, I needed a new phone and a name to go by making Allison Vance disappear from the world and internet. I had enough money to take care of myself for years but after a few months being alone all the time I started job searching. Eventually, I was able to find a small bookstore that needed a new worker. The pay is minimum but I'm still happy there to this day and it's enough income to pay the bills for my two bedroom house.

I see a silver car slow down and watch anxiously as it pulls into my driveway. I stare down and don't move as I see Louis get out of the car. I shake my head, remembering I'm going to have to get the door for him I walk quickly walk down the stairs. By the time I reach the bottom the doorbell rings throughout the house.

I make it to the door and open it, not quite ready for the idea of what could take place today. Once the door is open far enough for us to see each other we're both frozen and it takes at least fifteen seconds for us to move. Louis comes forwards and hugs me.

"I'm so sorry" I hug him back as the words leave his mouth. I don't know what he's apologizing for but I feel like I'll find out soon enough.

"Would you like anything to drink? We can go talk in the kitchen"

"Tea or coffee would be great" Louis lets go of me and I lead him to the kitchen after shutting the door. I turn the kettle on for tea and take a seat across from Louis on one of the barstools. We sit in silence until I work up the courage to speak.

"How are you?"

"Glad to be out, that's for sure." he gives a light chuckle, "I'm holding up okay but it's going to take a lot to figure out what to do with my life now. I can't go back to music but that's pretty much all I'm good at, Hell I don't know if I'll even be able to leave my house. Just at the airport, I was recognized and the bodyguard I had to hire got attacked while protecting me. He's okay but I don't want that to keep happening, I can't put people's lives in danger just to protect me. I thought people would have started to forget by now but I guess being in one of the worlds biggest boybands and getting caught for that really sticks in peoples minds."

"I'm so sorry. You don't deserve it. You made a mistake but you fixed it and protected me multiple times and had to pay jail time for it."

"No, I'm just as bad as the rest of them. God, we were all so stupid." The kettle starts whistling and I get up to pull two mugs from the cupboard.

"Anyway, how have things been for you? You didn't come during the last two months."

"I've been busy, trying to get the last pieces of my life in order. I've been fostering animals too so they've been taking up a lot of my time"

"Listen, the reason I came here was to give you something from Niall. I just didn't want to leave you alone when you open it." I hand Louis his tea with a shaky hand.
