[Did anyone die a little on the inside from just the first chapter?

Yeah? Good. Because the angst train is your home now and it has left the station.

Patton had been in the kitchen baking cookies with Roman when he saw his opposite crash to the ground. The two rushed out to check on him, calling his name to get no response.

Patton kneeled next to him and gently moved him to a sitting position against the wall. He gasped when he saw what had been done to the side. Roman paled but didn't let his defense down.

"Roman, go get me a bowl of warm water and a rag." Patton ordered. He was in dad mode now, causing Roman to instantly obey. The dad trait went to set Deceits hands free but he flinched back.

There wasn't a single trace of recognition in Deceits eyes. The muted side began to whimper and struggle to get his hands free. When Patton went to help him, he shrunk back into the wall and tried to seem small.

"Deceit, you're ok," Patton said quietly. "It's me, Patton. I'm not going to hurt you, I just want to help you."

Deceit blinked rapidly, trying to clear his vision of tears. He froze as Patton wiped his tears away, an unknown emotion in his eyes.

He's going to send me back to them! He's going to make me leave and I won't be able to help Thomas! Deceit thought, Patton was saying something to him but he couldn't hear anything but the pounding of blood in his ears. He couldn't breathe...

He saw Roman walk in with a bowl of water and a rag. Deceit let out a scared whimper, not able to make a usual snarky comment to hide behind. Roman glared at him but had a pity look in his eyes.

Patton once again tried to undo Deceits hands, succeeding this time. He was quick to make sure Deceit didn't claw at the stitches.

"Deceit, honey, listen to my voice. You're safe here, they can't get you over here." Patton held Deceits hands. Deceit wouldn't look at him but he could tell the other was calming down a bit. "I'm going to clean the blood off you ok?"

Deceit nodded and allowed Patton to clean him, flinching back when he cleaned the lying traits bottom lip. Patton continued to comfort him. He wiped Deceits nose, allowing the other to breathe easier.

Deceit nodded in thanks after he was done, then hugged his knees and hid his face in his legs. He flinched when he felt a hand on his back, shying away from the touch.

"You look like shit Deceit. Looks like someone defeated the villain before I did." Roman chuckled, noticing how the words made Deceit close in on himself more.

"That's notice Roman." Patton scolded. "Let's get you somewhere a bit better to sit. The floor isn't that comfortable." He helped Deceit get to the couch. Then he went back to the kitchen while Roman watched Deceit.

Patton dumped the bowl of water into the sink and checked on the cookies. He spared a glance at the two in the living room; Deceit raised a hand to touch the stitches but froze and put his hand back down, as if he was expecting to be scolded for the mistake, and Roman was giving Deceit a glare.

Patton set the cookie timer for fifteen minutes and walked back to the living room. He sat on the table in front of Deceit.

"Are you doing alright Kiddo? You look like you're expecting someone to yell..." Patton spoke softly. He handed Deceit a whiteboard and a green expo marker. Deceit hesitantly took it and shakily began to right.

I am fine, Morality. Thank you for helping me...

"They really did a number on you huh?" Roman asked with a smirk. Deceit curled in on himself, having seen that same smirk on a certain dark side before.

His hands shook badly as he began writing-

I'm sorry Envy! I'll be better I promise! Please don't hurt Illusion!

-only to drop the marker onto the floor. He quickly made an attempt to pick it up but Patton beat him to it.

"Deceit, kiddo, I'm going to need you to calm down.. No one here is going to hurt you, I promise.." Patton's grip on Deceits wrists were enough to make Deceit drop the utensils and struggle to not wince.

Roman picked up the board and read it. "Envy? I'm not Envy... I'm Roman! Creativity!"

Deceit couldn't trust these people. Sure, the use of their names was a comforting thing, but he knew better than to let his guard down. Look what happened last time he did!

Instead, he kept his head down and hoped to Thomas's sanity that they didn't send him back to the hell hole.
