Deceit shot up, breathing heavily. He looked around and saw that he was in a bedroom, presumably Logan's considering it had a galaxy painted on the ceiling. Every one was crowding around him except his three boys and Logan himself. Everyone had blood on them and looked like they just came back from a fight.
"Wh-where am I..?" Deceit choked out quietly, his anxiety raising quickly. Patton gave him a sympathetic look, making everyone move away from the anxious snake. "Pl-please tell me I-I'm not still asl-alseep!"
"Shh, relax Deceit, you're awake.." Patton spoke softly. "You're in Logan's bedroom. You just woke up from a nightmare after he finished your stitches.." He gently hugged the shaking snake. Virgil sat beside him with caution before joining the hug. Roman joined as well, muttering about protecting his family.
The door opened and Logan came in with the three young dark sides. The four immediately ran over, shoved the other three out of the way, and hugged the Snake Dad. Deceit squeaked and hugged them back, listening to them talk over one another as they scolded him.
"That's dangerous, papa!"
"We could've lost you for good, Dad!"
"What the fuck was that, Father?!""I'm so sorry that you had to go through that," Logan whispered in his ear, causing Deceit to give him a confused look. Logan chuckled and pulled away with the boys. "We were really worried about you De.. I thought I was going to lose you.."
"I-I totally know what's going on.. Wh-why aren't you co-covered in blood?" Deceit asked, not liking the looks he was given. He flinched a bit when Depression touched his shoulder. "Don't tell me what's going on!"
Everyone exchanged looks before Logan sighed and sat on the edge of the bed. "Your...uhm, 'nightmare' wasn't just a nightmare. What you dreamed up became a reality a-and you had an out of body experience. You saw yourself in each scenario as if you were looking through the eyes of a reader, as if you were simply reading one of Roman's books."
"S-so.. I-I killed Apathy..?" Deceit asked, staring at his hands. His anxiety shot even higher as his breathing picked up. Virgil gently grabbed his hands and did a breathing technique with him.
"You separated them. Adriean, as I believe Myles said his name is," Logan received a nod from Depression, "is safe. He's in Patton's room resting. I had Pain watch over him for me."
Deceit felt sick. Nausea made his vision fade as he stumbled weakly out of bed and stumbled to the bathroom, barely making it before he puked up bile and a bit of blood. A hand gently rubbed his back and when he finished, the hand (whom he then figured out belonged to Roman) stopped rubbing and instead helped him up. He looked in the mirror and felt sick again.
His lips were red and puffy (which explains why it hurt to talk), his skin was a deadly pale and his scales were dry and dark, his once bright eyes were dull and sad. How long had it been since he last seen his reflection? He couldn't remember. At least the thread was gone and he could once again speak. . .
"Get some rest," Roman murmured after he helped Deceit wash the taste of bile and vomit from his mouth. The prince carried the snake boi to the bed and covered him up after snapping him into comfortable clothing. "Logan, you take the first shift while the rest of us take shifts on Empathy and Apathy, as well as clean up the mindscape."
Logan nodded and laid next to Deceit. The dark bois gave their father one last hug before leaving. "Tell Despair when you see him that Deceit woke up," he told, "or just..tell anyone whose worried.."
Rage and Depression nodded as Self Doubt left them to go find Despair.

"Hey Adri," Pain cooed to the small boy, running his fingers through Apa--Empathy's hair. He stirred and his eyes fluttered open, blinking a few times to clear his vision. "It's alright, it's just you and me, don't worry.."
Empathy looked at him in confusion before realization struck his face. He sat up quickly--only to double over in pain seconds later. His torso was bare with a red soiled bandage wrapped around it where he had been stabbed by shit many times.
A soft knock on the door startled the hurt one, causing him to shake in panic. Pain got up and opened the door, letting in the three Sides at the door. Logan went in first to check up on the injured Side, followed by Roman whom was carrying Deceit. Empathy's eyes widened t how fragile Deceit looked, tears filling his eyes.
"H-hey buddy," Deceit stuttered out. Roman gently set him down on the bed next to Empathy. Said boy gave Deceit a sad smile. "H-how you feeling..?"
Empathy shrugged. He was having a flood of emotions and he understood none of them. "I-I'm sorry I hu-hurt you.." His heart broke when Deceit's only reaction was to shrug. Tears filled the boy's eyes as he let Logan change the bandage.
"P-Pain, ta-take care of h-him for me," Deceit spoke to the tired looking Side. Pain nodded with a small salute and Deceit tried to leave the room on his own, only to fall over after barely a step. Roman caught him and piked him up again, taking him back to Logan's room to rest.
"Get some rest Empathy," Logan smiled tightly. "You'll make up for what you caused after you and Denton are both healed. And you're going to apologize to everyone, including Remus and the Sins, as well as Thomas."
"Y-yes sir," Empathy stuttered out. Logan gave a short nod to both of the Sides before leaving.
But...the end is only the beginning.
