6 hours.
It's been 6 hours since they left Deceit with Logan.
6 hours too long.
The three dark sides had stayed in Depression's room despite them each getting their own. They kept fidgeting, not able to sit still. Self Doubt couldn't even get through act 1 of Newsies before he had to turn it off.
"Do you think Dad is ok?" Depression asked quietly. He had his head laying in Rage's lap, while he was curled in ball. "It's been hours."
"Patience is virtue," Self Doubt replied as he paced back and forth. "I'm sure Father is fine. Logic is a man of his word and would never intentionally hurt anyone unless needed."
"Is that why I'm his counterpart?" Rage asked, his copper brown eyes looking into caramel colored ones. Self Doubt stopped pacing for a moment, lost in thought.
"I...believe so...I'm not quite sure. I believe Anxiety used to be Creativity's counterpart before my corruption, which explains why I'm a legit dark copy of Creativity." Self Doubt stated, not realizing he went to saying the core sides by their traits. "You and Logic are a lot alike, Ray, more than you think."
Rage nodded slowly. Sure, the dark trait has seen similarities between him and Logan, but he's never considered them being alike. "Hey, Rö?"
Self Doubt hummed, showing that he was listening. Rage shifted in his spot on the bed, trying not to disturb the sleeping Depression. He ended up sitting back against the headboard with pillows behind him. Depression curled up on top of him, clinging to him tightly in his sleep.
"What do you will happen to us once Leader is under control and Dad has his voice back?" Rage asked. He played with Depression's hair, earning a soft purring sound from him.
"I reckon we'll be sent back. We're dark sides, Ray, the lights don't give a flying f-" Self Doubt was cut off by the door opening, revealing Patton standing there.
"Language," Patton scolded, "and we do care about you! If we didn't then we wouldn't be helping you."
"....Were you listening in on our conversation?" Self Doubt asked. Patton looked down guiltily and nodded. "Go figure, we know you don't trust us, no need to rub it in. What are we supposed to do? Plan on corrupting everyone here while our father figure has been with Logic for the past SIX HOURS?!"
"Römische Self Doubt Sanders! Chill your tits!" Rage yelled, making Self Doubt flinch and mutter an apology. "We get it, you're the embodiment of doubt! But always doubting things won't help the situation!"
Self Doubt huffed. His eyes turned a shade of pink before he teleported out of the room. Rage growled quietly before making sure the boy on his wasn't woken up. Fortunately, he wasn't.
"My apologies, Self Doubt is having a bit of mental health issues to deal with. Being in here for too long can do that to him." Rage apologized. Patton nodded slowly.
"I-I...uh.. I-I came to see if the three of you wanted to come for movie night? It might help distract you..." Patton spoke softly. Rage chuckled.
"I would but this little guy needs sleep and he's a cuddler. I would tell you to offer Self Doubt but you already saw how he is, and being in the same room with Roman will only make it worse." Rage sighed. Patton only nodded. He walked over to the two in bed and gave them a hug, noticing how Rage tensed up almost immediately and wrapped an arm around the sleeping Depression in a protective way.
"Get some sleep. I'll notify you when I get word from Logan. I'm sure removing stitches shouldn't take this long," Patton kissed his head in a fatherly way and left them alone.
"Unless he found out what else Dad's been hiding..." Rage mumbled as he watched Patton leave. He slowly drifted into unconsciousness, barely noticing how Self Doubt tucked him and Depression in before turning the light off and joining them.
