I'm pretty sure we almost broke up last night.
I threw my phone across the room at you.
I was expecting some dramatic turn-away,
But you stayed.- Stay Stay Stay by Taylor Swift
"Why are you even mad at me?" Sage asks me. My jaw drops.
"Are you fucking kidding me? Why am I mad? Sage you're gone for weeks at a time. Then you come home and make me go to all these stupid snowboarding parties and then you DITCH me at the fucking party." I rant at Sage. Sage tries to choke back a laugh. "Stop laughing at me!"
"I'm sorry, babe." Sage replies, but he's not really sorry. He always thinks it's so funny when I'm mad. I don't usually get really angry, but he pushed me over the edge tonight. "I didn't ditch you at the party, y/n. I left you alone for like 10 minutes."
"You left for 30 minutes and you knew I didn't know anybody at the party. Maybe if you were apologetic then I wouldn't be so upset, but you don't even seem to care." I explain to Sage. Sage is different than me. He's more outgoing and I'm more shy. He can talk to anybody about anything, while I cannot. I hate when he drags me to these parties and I'm forced to talk to a bunch of strangers.
"I do care, but this is stupid. I just don't think it's a big deal." Sage says casually as he sits down on the couch and turns on the tv. I feel like I'm about to cry.
"Screw you, Sage." I say quietly before running off to our room. I bury myself under the blankets and cry myself to sleep.
I wake up the next morning to Sage sitting at the end of our bed with a plate of breakfast..
"Did you poison that?" I ask Sage skeptically. He gives a half smile.
"No, this is my apology. I think we need to talk." Sage says. I sit up and Sage passes me the plate. "I'm sorry, y/n. I know how hard things have been for you and I need to be more sensitive to that."
"I hate when we fight." I tell him as I eat my brerakfast in bed.
"Me too. I hate that I'm gone most of the time and I hate that when I'm here I still can't give you the time you deserve. I want you to know that I love you. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make this work." Sage says. I pause from my breakfast to kiss him.
"I love you, too. I think step one to making this relationship work is for you not to laugh at me when I'm mad." I tell him. He laughs and I give him a dirty look.
"I'm sorry! You're scary when you're mad, but you're also really cute. It makes me laugh, but I'll work on it." Sage says as he comes and sits next to me.
"Step two: do not ditch your girlfriend at parties especially since she doesn't like interacting with people she doesn't know." I explain to Sage.
"That's fair. Is there a step three?" Sage asks.
"Yeah. Step three: stay. Stay here with me as long as you can." I tell him. He wraps his arm around me.
"I can do that." Sage says.
"Thank you. Are you hungry? I'll let you have a bite of my delicious breakfast." I say as I feed Sage a bite of pancake.
"Oh you'll let me a bite of the food I made? That's so nice of you." Sage replies jokingly.
