I walk into the living room to find y/n sitting on Mark's lap. They're best friends. I guess this is normal best friend behavior, but it kills me. His hand rests on her thigh as she giggles at every word he says. I feel sick.

"Oh hey Craig!" Mark says cheerfully.

"Hey guys." I reply. "What's so funny?"

"Marky was just telling me about the time he went snowboarding naked. What a crazy guy." Y/n says as she wraps her arm around Mark's neck. She has no idea how much I wish that was me.

"We're about to go get some lunch if you wanna join, Craig." Mark offers. I'm hungry, but I'd rather chop off my left leg than watch Mark and Y/n flirt for an hour.

"I'm not hungry, but thanks." I lie. Y/n gives me a pouty face, which is incredibly adorable. It makes me want to change my mind. Mark then stands up and scoops y/n up into his arms. She begins to giggle again and I feel like throwing up.

"Are you sure you don't wanna come, Craig?" Mark offers again. Y/n clings tightly onto Mark as he holds her.

"I'm very sure." I reply as I leave the room. I can't be around them right now.

Later that night I walk past Mark's room. His door is open and I see him lying on his bed playing on his phone.

"Hey, Sparky." I say from the door.

"What's up, Craig?" Mark asks as he looks up from his phone screen.

"Nothin much. What are you up to?" I ask him.

"I'm just texting y/n. Why?" Mark asks. He looks suspicious of my intentions.

"You two are practically dating." I say with a fake laugh.

"Ew." Mark replies with a real laugh.

"Why is that ew? You two flirt all the time. It's only a matter of time before you guys start dating." I tell Mark. He sets his phone and looks at me.

"She's my best friend, Craig. You know that we're just friends. Yeah we kinda flirt, but it's totally innocent." Mark explains to me.

"So you don't like y/n?" I ask, just to be sure.

"I only like her as a friend. Why?" Mark asks as he narrows his eyes.

"Umm..." I stumble. "I kinda like her. Like a lot. But I know she likes you. It's obvious."

"Are you serious?! You like y/n?!" Mark asks as he sits up. He's smiling so I have no idea what he's thinking.

"Yeah. I like her." I repeat.

"This is amazing, Craig! She likes you too! No joke, she has liked you for years. She never thought you saw her as anything more than a friend. I didn't even know you liked her! You're pretty good at hiding your feelings." Mark tells me.

"Wait...y/n likes me too?" I ask. "Is this joke?"

"No dude! Seriously. She's crazy about you. She talks about you all the time." Mark says. I'm smiling and I can't stop.

"Holy shit! What do I do? Do I ask her out? How do I ask her out? Oh my god how do I handle this?" I ramble on.

"Well she's coming over in a couple minutes to drop off my jacket. You should talk to her when she gets here." Mark says.

"I don't know. Is it too soon?" I ask. I'm suddenly feeling really nervous.

"No! It's not too soon! It has been years in the making. Just ask her out. I know she'll say yes." Mark coaches. I don't have much time to think of plan because the doorbell begins to ring.

"Is that her!?" I ask Mark as I start to freak out.

"Yes! Go get her, tiger!" Mark says. I nod at him and practically run the front door. I take a deep breath and run my fingers through my hair before answering.

"Hey, y/n." I greet as I open the door.

"Hi, Craig!" Y/n says. "Can I come in?"

"Oh right. Yeah. Come on in." I tell her. "Can I talk to you?"

"Sure. Is everything okay?" Y/n asks. Now she looks nervous.

"Yeah everything is fine. I just need to talk to you." I try explaining.

"Alright..." She replies shyly.

"Okay...I don't really know how to say this...I...I like you...as more than a friend...if that makes sense..." I say awkwardly. Y/n looks confused.

"You like me?" She asks.

"Yeah. I know this seems weird, but I really do. I've never told how I feel because I thought you liked Mark, but then he said you didn't like him so I thought maybe I should tell you that I like you." I rant. I think my rambling only confuses her more.

"You thought I liked Mark!? He's my best friend! And I like you too! Mark knows I like you, Craig. I've had this stupid crush on you for years. I never thought you liked me like that." Y/n tells me.

"Well I definitely like you like that." I reply.

"Okay then." She says.

"What now?" I ask her. I'm not great at this kind of stuff.

"I think you should kiss me now." Y/n tells me. I don't need to be told twice. I put my hands on her cheeks and kiss her. Kissing y/n is so much better than I ever imagined. It feels so right.

"It's about damn time you two got together." Mark says as he walks past us.
