"Hey! Are you new?" A tall snowboarder asks me at the top of the slope. He's all geared up and ready for his run while I fuss with my camera.
"I'm new to Red Bull." I answer as I get my camera ready for filming.
"Yeah I knew I would've remembered you from last years development camp. I would not have forgotten you." I boy says to me with a smile. I think he's flirting with me, which makes me super uncomfortable. I'm at work and that's not really appropriate.
"Umm are you ready for me to film you now?" I ask the boy as I attempt to change the subject.
"Oh. Right. Yeah." The snowboarder says awkwardly as he regains his focus. "Are you ready?"
"Ready." I reply. With a simple nod the boy is off and I follow him down the slope. I capture his rails and then his first two jumps. He's pretty good actually, but something seems off though as he reaches the third jump. He has too much speed and isn't slowing. I can't do anything about it, so I keep filming. I watch as the guy attempts a major trick, but he doesn't have enough control. I wince as his body slams into the snow. He rolls uncontrollably for a few a while and then lies motionless on the ground. I board over to his side as fast as possible.
"Are you alright?" I ask him as I kneel by his side. He moves slightly so that he's facing me.
"Oww. Yeah. Oww." The boy says. "I'm fine. Oww."
"Are you sure? You took a nasty fall." I tell the boy.
"Did you get that on the camera?" The boarder asks me as he sits up and holds his shoulder.
"Of course I did. It was a sick crash." I say. He shakes his head at me.
"This is so embarrassing." The mumbles.
"You were going way too fast, but I bet you already know that." I say to the boy.
"Yeah I know. I still thought I could land it." He tells me. "I wanted you to think I was a badass for throwing that trick."
"You were trying to show off?" I ask as we both sit in the snow. He's barely moved since the fall.
"Yeah..." The boy says slowly as he still clutches his shoulder. "It's stupid. I use snowboarding to impress girls, but I don't know, I kinda got nervous with you watching me."
"I made you nervous?" I ask as I try to conceal the smirk on my face. I'm not use to making guys nervous. It's kind of fun.
"Yeah you really did." The boy says as he blushes slightly. "I think because you made me crash, you now you have to go to dinner with me."
"Oh really? That's my punishment for making you nervous?" I ask with a smile.
"Hey, now. I wouldn't call it a punishment, but I definitely deserve a date with you now." The guy says to me.
"I don't even know your name." I reply.
"I'm Scotty." The snowboarder says.
"I'm y/n." I tell Scotty as we shake hands. He flinches at the movement and goes back to grasping his shoulder.
"So will you go a date with me?" Scotty asks a moment later.
"How about we get you to the nurse first, and then we discuss date details. Deal?" I ask as I stand up. I hold out my hand to help Scotty stand up.
"I'm good with that as long as you hold my hand all the way to the nurse." The boy says with a sneaky smirk.
"Fine." I say as I hold tightly onto Scotty's hand. We make our way down the rest of the slope to the nurse's station hand and hand.
