Nightmare : Deacury

Johns POV:
Freddie had always had nightmares, he has been though some pretty scary shit. Like depression, self harm, anxiety, and the worst is about a year ago he was raped. It makes me upset to think about it, the pain he must  have felt, the pain he probably still feels. In just trying to make it all better, trying my hardest.

It was about 2am, I never slept well. I was downstairs making some cheese on toast when I heard screams from mine and Freddie's bedroom. I stopped everything I was doing and rushed up the stairs so fast I fell over a few times.

I burst open the door and saw Fred thrashing around in the bed, tears streaming down his face and he was screaming- it sounded like he was in pain. I rushed to his side and tried to shake him awake. But he wouldn't wake up.

"Freddie! Freddie, wake up!!" I shouted, whilst shaking him, less gentle this time. But still nothing. I really had no other choice, I really didn't want to but I had to pull him out of this nightmare. I slapped him across the face and his eyes shot open, he was breathing heavily and shaking.

"Shhhh, it okay I'm here. You're safe now, you're safe." I held him in close to my chest letting his tears fall onto my T-shirt. I stroked his hair and kissed the top of his head lightly.

"J-john, it was terrible. I was s-so scared. It was all dark and h-he was there. And you weren't there, and I just wanted to wake up but I couldn't" he stumbled over his words as he sobbed.

"But I'm here now. And you are safe, and you are never going to see that horrible man ever ever again." I reassured him, and it was true- if that guy ever showed his face I would make him wish he was never born.

"Can you come to bed now Deaky" Freddie asked quietly.

I felt so guilty, if I was there he might not have had that nightmare. I feel like an idiot.

"Of course I will darling, I'm so sorry I left you." I said and then climbed into bed beside him and snuggled in close to him.

And for one I went to sleep in only a few minutes, I guess Fred had something about him.
