The rain poured down heavily against the sides of the house, the wind outside lashing against the trees making such a racket. The sky lighting up occasionally with a bright surge of electricity, followed by the low rumbling of thunder. The storm was only getting bigger and closer, the amount of time between the lightning and the sound of thunder getting shorter and shorter- meaning the storm was present.

John Deacon hated every part of a thunderstorm, he didn't like the loud noises, or the flashing lights that illuminated a room for a few seconds before turning it pitch black again. He hated the thought that lightning could set alight anything in its path, including himself.

On the contrary Freddie Mercury was fascinated by the beautiful storm, how a sunny day could transform into a ruff night on a few moments. He thought the lighting was a beautiful wonder, how it could either be in blots that split into many jagged lines of white scratches, or how it could simply light up they sky, casting silhouettes of dark clouds all over the skies canvas. The low hum of thunder exited him to great extents, the felling of slight danger sent adrenaline rushing through his veins.
But his favourite part of thunderstorms was the fact that he was the one out of the three of them who got to hold John tightly to his chest and tell him it was all going to be okay.

Freddie and John where very close friends, always balancing each other out with their different energies. Freddie being more confident and taking John under his wing, whilst the younger- although equipped with plenty of whit, liked the stay more out of the buzz.

The two of them sat in the living room, all of the lights where off, due to Johns request encouraged by his fear of lighting setting the house on fire. They where snuggled up under a blanket with only a torch for visibility. Roger and Brian where up in Roger's room doing god knows what. Roger shared a similar excitement to thunderstorms as Freddie, although his was less about the weather and more about... Brian.

A large flash of lighting, illuminated the small living room and caused John to squeal and hind his face in Freddie's chest. He inhaled his scent of expensive cologne and champagne, the warmth of Freddie's arms wrapped around his small frame already making him feel safer.

"Shhh darling, it's okay your safe in here." Freddie's strong voice turned soft as he spoke sweetly to his brunette.

The roar of thunder followed shortly, the sound echoed through their small home, making John cling on tighter to the fabric of Freddie's shirt.
The dark haired boy wrapped his arms tighter around John, kissing his head and whispering words of comfort to him.

"I really don't like it." John whimpered, finally looking up from the comfort of Freddie's body.

"I know Deaky, I know." Freddie hummed resting his own head on Johns, which laid of Freddie's shoulder.

With each bolt of lighting and growl of thunder John hot impossibly closer to Freddie, which neuter of them could complain about.

"Thank you Fred." The bassist whispered softy.

"For what?" Freddie asked mirroring the tone of voice.

"For staying with me, I know it's not ideal.. you know, having to babysit me like this." John sighed admittedly, the feeling that he was bothering his friend burning into his brain.

"Oh don't be daft! I'm not babysitting you, I don't want you to feel scared. Besides I like spending time with you." He smiled at the smaller boy who was still curled up close to him, and making him blush madly.

"Really?"

"Most certainly. You are my best friend Deaks. I'd do anything for you." He stroked Johns cheek softy with his index finger.

"I thought Roger was your best friend." John said quietly leaning into the touch of Freddie's finger on his cheek.

"That wanker? I love him, but you're different." He laughed softly, making Johns blush deepen.

"Different?"

"Better. You just have something about you, and it makes everything feel alright, you make everything better."

"I do?" John smiled to himself, feeling his heart flutter.

"You do. I don't know why you sound so surprised, you are so wonderful... you do realise don't you?"

"I guess, I just don't hear it very often. I feel people forget about me often." John admitted looking down.

"Well I could never forget about you." Freddie said, lifting Johns chin up so their eyes could meet, "you are one of a kind."

"Says you, Mercury." John chuckled trying to hide his undying blush.

"Well, I wouldn't be me if it weren't for you, Deacon." He winked back still lighting holding Johns chin with his thumb and forefinger.

"Please don't go anywhere too soon yeah?" John said in such a quiet tone he almost couldn't hear himself.

"It's a promise." And with that Freddie brought Johns face close to his own, connecting their lips in a passionate kiss. The rain still poured down outside, the drumming of it on the windows now not as uncomforting to John. The kiss was short lived though as the sudden unexpected sound of thunder caused John to leap back in fear.

Freddie giggled at his terrified expression, taking his hands in his own making John laugh along with him.

"I like you, did you know that?" Freddie pressed their foreheads together still giggling.

"I gathered after that kiss." John smiled back.

"Oh good, I was afraid you might still be clueless. You have been for all these years and ur was driving me mad!" Freddie exclaimed with a grin, tucking John's hair behind his ears.

"Years?" John repeated in shock to clarify if he had heard correctly.

"Years." Freddie nodded, making John's mouth drop.
"What? How long did you like me for?" Freddie chuckled, "wait you do like me right?"

"Of course I do, and I did as soon as I laid eyes on your stupid face." John smiled, grazing his finger along Freddie's jawline.

"Well why didn't you say something?" The front man asked on amusement.

"I thought you would be grossed out!" He the younger defended himself.

"How could I ever? Look at you, you're beautiful! We wasted so much time." He shook his head.

"Well let's not waste anymore." John smiled as he leant forward onto Freddie, pushing him to lay down on the sofa and kissing him sweetly.
What a blessing thunderstorms where.
