THIS CHAPTER PROVIDES THE INSIGHTS TO XANDER'S MIND FROM DAY ONE.
HAPPY READING! ❤
XANDER'S POV:
You know the feeling you get when your body is exposed to the bright, unceasing sunlight after being kept in a somber environment for too long? The feeling of utter contentment and happiness, pure satisfaction. With every ray of light that shines upon your body, every speck of murkiness eliminates. And you do every thing in your power to make sure it's real and will not disappear in the thin air. That is the exact feeling that coursed through my veins when I saw Eva. This is why I needed to feel her. When I kissed her and felt her bare flesh beneath my calloused hands, I knew it was no dream. I felt ecstatic and complete. She filled the hollow of my heart, of my being and in that moment, I knew I loved her. I loved the woman who ripped my existence to shreds when she disappeared, the woman who had my heart, the woman who had me wrapped around her dainty fingers and the woman who had the power to bring me to my knees. Mia regina. Words can't explain the emotions that swam through me the moment our eyes connected. The possessive side in me wanted to lock her in my room and never let her out of my sight ever but the rational side wanted to give her space and time to recover. So many questions ran through my mind but the aura that surrounded her screamed 'distant, different and cold' For the first time I felt, not scared, rather concerned. I had this sudden urge to console her, to penetrate through the thick walls that towered menacingly over other people. In that instant, I knew something has flipped inside of her. What I respected and admired the most was the fact that her emotions never once betrayed her or tried to emerge through the thick surface. I didn't realise she felt something until she responded to my kiss with equal fervour, pouring out just the right amount of emotions but one emotion that dominated all the others was longing. I love Xenia Evangeline Smith and I am proud of the woman she's matured into. My woman, my Queen. Just like every breathing being requires a support system, a King requires her Queen. After the traumatic incident of her family's murder, the mafia was passed down to us until Xenia learns every bit of the details that are necessary to become the capo. My grandfather and her grandfather were bestfriends, our fathers were best friends too. The mafia business was passed down from generation to generation. Given the relationship between our grandfathers and fathers, our families' position in the hierarchy was equal. No one was above or below from the other. The business was a result of fifty percent from both the sides. Eva is equal to me in this business and in this life. When she glared at my father the other day in the living room with her cold, void eyes I understood one thing, she will not take an ounce of shit from anyone. My heart sank today when I saw how broken she is. Broken beyond repair. That part of her is more shattered than the tiny almost invisible shards a glass breaks into. I felt a part of me slipping away when I saw how she lost herself there. The questioning look in her eyes which I'm sure she thought I missed when she looked at the headstone on which her brother in law's name was engraved. She didn't utter a single word but her eyes, Oh Lord, her eyes spoke volumes. They questioned him about why he couldn't protect himself or his wife, why he broke the promises, did he ever even consider her his sister? All these questions were eating her but she looked away, refusing to mourn over another grave. Another gone soul. The pain hit me like a ton of bricks when I tasted the saltish water that flowed out of her eyes and onto her lips. I understood why she wanted me to numb the pain, it was unbearable, tormenting in fact. The silence that enveloped the air around us when she was at my condo, was comfortable. We were enjoying each other's embrace, the way our actions spoke enough that they did not need the support of mere words. The silence between us was like a delicate glass and words played the role of pressure. Even the slightest of pressure can break the glass and shatter the intricate piece of art. When mom told me that she thought Xenia was kidnapped, I felt as if someone set my entire being on fire. My temper skyrocketed but she was not certain. I will, piece by piece, solve the mystery of her sudden evanescense. I will stand by her side, always and forever. She's mine to love, mine to protect and mine to cherish.
I HOPE ALL YOUR CONFUSIONS ARE CLEARED NOW THAT IS IF THERE WERE ANY.
UNTIL NEXT TIME. ❤️
