45. HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF

XENIA'S POV:

"Why am I here? Tell me." I asked quietly.

"Now, now, did not I tell you to wait until the day the Knights vanish from the face of the Earth? You impatient little girl, you deserve a punishment now." he smiled menacingly walking towards me with a whip in his hand.

A tremor went down my spine but I refused to give in to the fear he was trying to infuse inside of me. I did not want to appear weak in front of him. I rather die than let that happen.

A whimper threatened to escape my lips as the first hit landed on my back and arm. I curled myself in a ball to prevent him from hitting my front. Two more hits later, he finally dropped the whip on floor and started dragging me somewhere.

I kept asking him but he shut me up and that is when he opened the door to another room and I saw Adrian. The gunshot rang through my ears but multiple followed after. Michael started running in the opposite direction where a small window was located on the wall and opened it.

I was so shook after what I witnessed that I did not stop him and let him run. I heard him curse in Russian trying to get out of the tiny space. Of course he made it out by the time a few men reached inside the room where I was sitting on the floor with a dead body hanging off the chains next to me.

They neared me and I screamed at the top of my lungs which caused them cease their movements. Another pair of boots came rushing in and stopped right in front of me. I did not see his face until he bent down on his knees in front of me.

A silent gasp broke through my lips as soon as I saw Asher sitting in front of me with a sorrowful expression on his face. My bottom lip stated quivering and tears welled up in my eyes again before I finally burst out and sobbed in his chest. His arms wrapped around me like a protective shell but it only increased the amount of tears falling down my cheeks and wetting his shirt.

"I am sorry I did not come earlier. But we came as soon as we located you." he exclaimed rocking me back and forth.

I pulled away and pointed at Adrian but he kept his eyes solely focused on me. I saw hurt flickering in his brown orbs and he shook his head "I already saw when I stepped inside." he whispered in a broken voice.

Truth be told, Adrian was as dear to Asher as he was to me. We grew up playing together and telling each other every single detail of our day, every day.

My eyes met his again and widened when I saw a bullet between his eyes. I screamed and pulled away. His body hit the floor with a loud thud and my screams kept ripping through the air until...

"XENIA! WAKE UP!" Somebody shook me awake and I opened my eyes to see brown eyes staring back at me in concern.

"I am here. It's gonna be alright." he hugged me close to his body before he started untying the ropes.

I was still shaking from the nightmare I had and did not notice when the door opened and slammed against the wall.

"How the fuck did you get in?" an unfamiliar angry voice asked.

Asher straightened up and pointed his gun at the man. My eyes landed on Levi Marinato standing in the door, looking as murderous and livid as ever.

"Your security was killed in the blink of an eye, not my fault. I was in the van behind Xander. Oh and the secret tunnel helped of course." he stated casually.

I saw Xander appear from behind Levi along with Shay and a memory flashed in front of my eyes causing the panic to start rising again.

"Nick." I whispered shakily.
